Hopefully it's nothing, I remember reading an article years ago claiming lots of guys have some form of prostate cancer that moves so slowly it's not worth treating, they're more likely to die of old age before the cancer effects them in a meaningful way.

It's not prostate cancer - they've been very quick to rule that out - it was identified while he was having surgery on his prostate.

He's stopping all official duties. It sounds fairly serious to me.

Actually, that's not quite right. He's stopping public duties. He's still going to do other official stuff.

I am pretty sure the most severe of prostate cancers does not stop the royals from leaching off of hard working people. That is the purpose of these beings.

However one may feel about the institution, living a royal life is not something I would want to do. The world hanging breathlessly on reports about the condition of one's prostate seems somewhat...invasive? Anyway, while I've lived a relatively moderate life there are things about my private life that I am happy to keep private. Having the details of my romances splashed all over the tabloids and on the prime time news is not something I would wish on anyone. :brood:

Also I'm pretty sure Princess Kate is still in the hospital because they are slowly draining her blood (while keeping her just barely alive) to use the blood for King Charles. It's an old Anglo Saxon remedy for ball cancer.

IIRC the Royal Family contributions outweigh the amount spent on them, so taxes from paychecks don't really go towards them.

What is definitely correct is that the majority of assets they use to generate their income should be the collective property of the people.

Assuming that's true — and who knows — I'm conflicted.

On the one hand, for a 75-year-old man, choosing to forego chemotherapy would be a completely reasonable decision. Chemo is hell, and it would be understandable if he chose to focus on maximizing his quality of life for whatever time he has left instead of making his life as long as possible, no matter how miserable that extended length of time might be.

On the same hand, if some idiot wants to hasten his death by relying on "herbs and potions" instead of medicine, that's his own business.

On the other hand, he's the king and if he does idiotic things, that idiocy will influence other people, which has a great deal of ability to cause harm.

The real problem here is that his privacy is already being invaded by this "expert" going on TV and speaking about what he will do. If he (the King) doesn't speak up, he'll be letting this guy speak for him and possibly influencing people to not get the proper treatment. The only way to offset that (possibly) would be to publicly come out and say exactly what cancer he has and what treatment he has opted for. Not something that I think most of us would really want to do. Bottom line, his privacy has already been violated, no matter how he reacts. :brood:

I saw an interview with Chuck, before he became king, and he said that as a child he realized that his life would never be private and that no matter what, there would be people actively trying to pry into every aspect of his life for as long as he lived.

Same. And with all those hands, long ago I decided someone else’s decision are not my business. And, at this point, I can’t say one way or another what I’d do. Currently, my only choice is whatever the VA decides since that’s where I’m getting all my medical care.

Turns out Diana didn't die, Liz faked Diana's death and locked her up in the Tower of London all these years.
