Oh goody, another attempt to pretend being a toxic male asshole is ok because someday society is going to kick you in the face and you will need them. Said as Tim Allen: See, it is great to be toxic because some day you are going to need me so I never have to change and you just need to put up with Tim the Trumpman Taylor. Suck it lib bitches, and watch my new show.
I was a big fan of Home Improvement. I loved the Santa Clause films, and Galaxy Quest was just brilliant, but Tim Allen kind of only has one note, and it's tiring at this point that producers keep pressing it.
I'm more annoyed at Kat Dennings. Where'd all her Broke Girls and Thor money go that she has to do this?
In his defense he probably has second to Foxworthy for most overplayed comic meme ever. Maybe I am rich bitch is in there somewhere.
or funny... kinda wondering why the usual suspects don't care about the wokeness of Home Improvement? Like, he's perpetually shown to be incompetent and an emotional child, constantly being bailed out or set straight by subordinates in his life be they Al, Jill, Wilson, the kids, or even the eye candy on his cable access show...
Yes, but the thing about the Tim Allen character is he is normally secure in his position as being in charge despite his stupidity. In his shows he is never really replaced. oddly it is a huge example of white privilege that he is continued to be allowed to lead despite his clear lacking to his subordinates.
Detroit suburb in the 90s... even if we took the show as reflective of the realities of the time, that house would've cost them less than $100K (based on a quick glance of realtor.com listings in Royal Oak). Presuming they bought before the first kid was born (approx '82, in universe), prolly got in for under $50K...
It wasn't woke back then, that was just how sitcom families were set up, with a dumb guy and a competent wife. And yes, I'm pretty sure there were people complaining about how that pattern represented masculinity or whatever. Home Improvement also kept it pretty clean and sanitized, in an era of increasing profanity and Will and Grace having a gay role and Friends being Friends. Home Improvement was clearly not the enemy of old-fashioned values.
