If Harris gets PA and MI, and manages to keep NV blue, I think she's the next President. 270 to 268. Maybe even 276 to 262.
It is just a lot easier to count 5 votes compared to a hundred. When you consider how unpopulated most of VA is compared to the area around DC and the coast it is just much easier for a town clerk to tally what is there and get the results to the proper people when you are not dealing with so many of them.
It would be fun to be a fly on the wall at Trump Campaign HQ once those numbers start rolling in and his lead goes "poof".
With 95 percent of precincts reported, Florida has counted 10,758,440 votes since the final polls closed a few hours ago. These piddley ass states that are barely the size of a county are an embarassment.
Florida allows early voting and absentee ballots to be processed and counted before Election Day, something Republicans in other states have fought tooth-and-nail against.
Whatever the results,it will never not be an irreparable moral stain on the nation (and an indication that the union is likely to fly apart soon) that in a year where Dems ran a practically perfect campaign with a billion dollars and an unprecedented organization against a convicted felon, known sexual predator, traitor who's opposed by every serious individual who worked for him, who's more corrupt than the can describe, who's very clearly allied with the world's worst dictators, who spent his whole campaign golfing and grifting except for an occasional rage-fest in which his brainy is clearly turning to mush and STILL... IN SPITE OF ALL THAT STILL At least 47% of those who can be arsed to even vote, some 70 million or more, choose him anyway. I don't know how we as a nation survives even if/when he loses
Are all those states that have been counting for 3 plus hours controlled by Republicans? I didn't think that the "blue wall" states were ran by Republicans as that is an oxymoron.
Donald Trump is the promise that white, straight "Christian" men will dominate the narrative once more as what is considered "normal" and they are desperate for this. Donald Trump could literally shoot a baby on live TV, and I'd wager most of those same men would vote for him. It is the last gasp of white supremacy, and a cornered animal is extremely dangerous.
I find that more depressing than trump getting elected. Cruz is the biggest loser in all of global politics
Sorry but I got to stop you there. Regardless of how this all shakes out, Kamala Harris was a horrible candidate. This was not the perfect campaign by any stretch of the imagination. The majority of the country didn't like the current president nor the current state of the economy, yet the dems waited until after the near walking dead Biden bombed at a debate to decide to make a switch. She gets dropped in at the last minute before the convention, and wasn't battle tested as she would have been in a proper primary. This was a fuckup of royal proportions.
WI and PA have legislature issues. The former has a gerrymandered GOP supermajority (for now) and one house in PA is still Republican. MI flipped the legislature since 2020 and fixed this issue.
CNN at Trump headquarters while the song YMCA plays and the pundit mentions that is one of Trump's favorite songs. Let the irony of that thought linger for a bit...
A lot of people online are saying Trump's got this thing basically sewn up. Is that premature or plausible?
AP has Trump at 214, and Kamala at 179. California was a terrific boost, as expected, but it's still too nail bitey.
I have always knows people from Texass are all talk and no walk. Ted Cruz continues to prove that point. Fucking Texass gravy seal tough guys are all full of fucking shit. Ted Cruz is your performative male. I have not used cuck in a while, but that is what Ted Cruz is. Santorum was the frothy anal lube and Cruz is the dictionary definition of cuck. Seer also JD Vance and Lindsey Greham.
As the old saying goes "Success has a thousand fathers. [apparent] Failure is a bastard." The Republicans ran a post-election "autopsy" in 2020 and ignored it. It looks like they're on their way to winning. Harris turned out to be a much better candidate than I expected. That doesn't mean she was the theoretical best candidate. I don't know that there was a "best" candidate out there. It's the problem you have with an inclusive party. I can't think of anyone the Democrats could have nominated who didn't have baggage with some group or another. Even if there was such an animal, the nominating process has gotten so "democratic" (small d) that it's damn near impossible to get them through. The alternative is the old "smoke filled room" dominated by "party bosses", which has it's own drawbacks. The macho man is very appealing to a lot of men of all economic and ethnic stripes. The Force of cultural reaction is strong with us.
It's not the smug gloating of Trump and Musk I'm mostly dreading, although I'm really dreading that. No, it's the smug gloating from people who think the Dems deserved to lose that I dread most. This election did not come down to what's happening in Palestine. It's the economy, stupid.
There's four years to dissect things, but there are already (early potentially misleading) indicators of her massively losing support in Muslim areas.
Well, they can all congratulate themselves for teaching the Dems a lesson when they get deported and while Gaza is razed even harder and bloodier, with Israel given total carte blanche from the American government.
