Dr. Bashir is a "good" terrorist? sometimes, this show stretches the boundaries a little bit. I was expecting a lot and was a little let down. That action sequence where Jack kicked the suicide bomber off a moving commuter train before he detonated was awesome!!
I'm liking Sidding's performance. Not enough time yet to call him "good"...just better than the other guy.
I too liked Siddig's character and what he (supposedly) stands for now. I'd be interested to see how far he goes before, ya know, he either becomes evil or dies.
Newest Jack Bauer Fact: When that wuss Dracula bites your neck, you walk the earth. When jack Bauer bites your neck, you....don't.
Well then. I was just saying last night how VERY tired I am of promos saying "tune in tomorrow for the episode that will change everything!" and hardly ever do they change anything.... I withdraw the complaint.
I knew I was right. That dad should have grabbed the guys gun (the one he killed for the part) and snuck back to his house and had a shootout to save his son. Well at least he died real fast.
Tis is off to a good start, or well, end for some. Adios Curtis! The Unit must have been interfering with his role here. Anybody rushing out for the DVD release with next weeks stuff on it?
about 55 minutes in to this episode, I was all set to come in here and launch a rant about the killing of BlackJack™(Agent Curtis)... and at the hands of Jack Bauer no less.... Now, it doesn't seem to matter much. This is good. I take back my earlier statement regarding the contrivance of Siddig playing a "good terrorist" and all the thoughts I held regarding Jack appeasing the terrorist. At least these ideas are being addressed on the show and it is complicating the plot somewhat. Can't wait til next week!!
This was my first time tuning in. I'm now officially hooked and have my DVR set to record it every new ep. It looks really good in HDTV!
It goes to a basic concept of war... You don't continue fighting the leadership if he's offering armistice.
DAMNIT! I missed the second two hours because I was at work. Im pissed. I hadnt watched 24 since season one, but something possessed me to watch the premiere. The first two hours were good, and the promo made the second two look really good. I wanted to see it bad.
Dennis Haysbert aka President Palmer on 24 plays Jonas Blaine on The Unit. Roger Cross aka Curtis Manning...has nothing coming up according to IMDB. Of course, Morgan Freeman is doing an excellent job portraying that Muslim guy who heads up the IAA. The whole episode, I thought Curtis was acting like a twat for no reason until I found out what had happened to him. It was just so out of character for him to be pissed off, he's usually a calm guy, but it's understandable that this sent him over the edge. I wish it could have been resolved without killing him though, and I was hoping he'd get a silent clock. I also thought the episode was over when he died, so I was ready to get some tissues. His death wasn't as surprising as Palmer's, Michelle's, Tony's, or poor Edgar's deaths, but it was just as emotional. Jack freaking out like that was hard to see. He hasn't been like that since the end of season 3, but that was nothing compared to this. He just had to kill a friend and colleague after being tortured for nearly two years by the Chinese. But then the assault on the warehouse...the pussy dad not saving the day like I thought he would...then BOOM. Wow. It really did change everything.
Oh man, stay out of this thread. Run far away until you see the 3rd and 4th episodes. Unless of course reading this thread already ruined it for you...
I might be wrong, but I didn't see anything to indicate Curtis is dead. He probably is, I just don't think we know for sure
The end of the episode was too far away to give him a silent clock countdown. He pretty much stopped moving when he hit the ground. Yes, it is possible that he survived and is in critical condition, but Jack Bauer still shot a friend and fellow agent in the neck. That's gotta seriously fuck with his mind.
Oh yeah, Jack's all fucked up no matter what. But Curtis just went down and then we didn't see what happened. As long as there's people around to make sure he doesn't bleed out the wound seems possibly non-fatal. Of course the bullet could have severed his spinal cord. But hell, Tony got shot in the neck and was up and about in a few hours.
dude, blackjack is dead as a doorknob. what gets me is the look on his face when he realized that jack killed him. that piece of acting/directing screamed "betrayal." that and the musical score made this last two hours movie qaulity, imho.
Those were my first 4 episodes of 24 and I loved it. I've been avoiding this because I didn't want to have to go back and watch the 96 hours I've missed, but now I see I don't have to in order to enjoy the show. My roommate has been watching the show since it first came on so I get some back story from time to time which helps me keep up. I can't believe Jack shot his friend like that but I agree that it doesn't show that he is dead for sure. We shouldn't see him any more this season in any case. Great show, I'll be watching it in HD every Monday.
If I were a sadistic 24 writer, I vote severed spinal cord...that way Blackjack can come back and stare at Jack reproachfully from behind a respirator.
Oh definitely. These four episodes scream of movie quality. The whole time I was thinking "shit, I'd be happy if they made this the 24 movie and just deal with the ramifactions of the nuke going off in season 6." And they did package it onto a DVD, so it can be watched as sort of a movie. About 160-170 minutes, so quite a long movie.
