Interesting, labor unions do tend to blindly support the DNC. But on a more serious note. James P. Hoffa is still the general president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters? So how much weight should one assign to this letter?
Fuck them. The time to worry about that was before they TWICE threw their support for this idiot. Now they can reap what they sow.
I am shocked. SHOCKED, I tell you, that Obamacare isn't the wonderful basket of sunshine and puppydogs that some people thought it was.
Well, it was a tossup whether you or Volpone would be the first to do the "we have to pass it to know what's in it" line, even though the public had access to the complete text of the bill at the same time Congress did. So Volpone gets to say it this time. Again.
Yes, and we had plentiful amounts of time to study the bill and register objections before it was passed. Oh wait . . . that was in an alternate reality. Probably the same one where congresscritters listen to their constituents instead of their lobbyists.
You'd think after the "Patriot Act" people would have learned. Guess some need to get screwed a little harder to get the message.
Last sentence. And yet, in some constituencies, what the people wanted ran counter to the lobbyists, and for once the people won.
Okay, Grover, I'll see your TSA and raise you ABC and the number 7. "TSA Bad = ACA Bad"? Not following.
They probably thought they could get Obamacare or keep their company health plan if it was better. Next on the menu: FORCE companies to give them the choice of the company health plan or Obamacare.
Remember when the threat to the standard work week meant people would be forced to work MORE than 40 hours? That's ok though, since Democrats were just saying a short while ago that being unemployed gives you the time to find and enrich yourself. This is the best of both worlds!
Obamacare is bad news - to the commercial for-profit health insurance industry. They've opposed every attempt at health care reform since the 60's, and this was no different. They're not interested in reform. They're not interested in making sure everyone has access to quality health care. All they're interested in is keeping themselves profitable. It all depends on whether you believe in our current system of for-profit health care, and whether or not you think all people are entitled to health care regardless of their socioeconomic status. As for unions, they're feeling the pressure from their members whose employers are all threatening to lay everyone off or cut everyone's hours to eliminate full-time, benefit eligible employees. Like the Papa John's asshole.
Hmmm, this is interesting. According to Forbes: So union leaders have a problem with universal coverage and public exchanges because they threaten union power ... hmmmm. Now who are you gonna side with?
In other news, a couple of weeks ago Obama acknowledged he really didn't know what the fuck he was doing with a huge chunk of Assholecare (aka the ACA) in the form of the employer tax (businesses with 50 or more employees must offer health coverage or pay penalties; true they tried to call it the employer mandate but a duck is a duck), so they kicked the can down the street - and gave all low-wage employers' businesses everywhere a break for an extra year (won't start 'till 2015) while we wait for the obaminable shitfest law to be repealed. It seems incompetence and getting things wrong may be a redeeming feature of this fuckwad. [I guess I now retract those times I suggested he had nothing redeeming.] Thanks barry the jackass-in-cheif. !! Your decrapitude rocks !!! [this is actually me liking the prick; see I'm trying to evolve as a human being]
