Awesome. This could really go a long way to helping millions of people in the world living with HIV while also eventually eradicating AIDS and HIV by vaccinating the rest of the population.
Is this related to the gene that was discovered in Britian that saved a large portion of the population from the Plague? (saw an program several months [maybe a year even] ago) on Discovery Channel about that and it was hoped that it would lead to a cure or at least a way to fight AIDS.
I was gonna say... I'm pretty sure I learned about such a gene in evolution last year, and it was not news... Must be a new different special gene.
The SA thread that linked me to this also wondered that, I'm afraid I don't know. Might very well be, though.
Let's be realistic here. There are tons of AIDS infected people in shitholes like Africa that think they can cure themselves by raping infant girls. Telling them they just need a dose of gene therapy and they'll be fine isn't going to do much more than leave them scratching their heads and looking for the next infant.
