I was wondering if it would be possible to have the functionality that when a Shelter thread is closed it is auto-moved to the public shelter release area?

That way, when we are done with a thread we can just shut it and be done with it, without having to think about release dates and such things.

Plus, whiners would be revealed within moments/hours of their lame reports to those who pay attention to/ care about such things and we get all the stupid reports out of the Shelter right away.

    Thoughts?

You'd still be waiting four weeks to close the thread, so it wouldn't really save you much in the way of effort. Just the manual move part.

Aye. There's no point in picking a close thread action as a trigger for a move, when you can do the move yourself just as easily; it's only one extra click. It's not any extra effort to check the forum for 4 weeks+ old threads, IMO.

Set every thread to auto-lock 4 weeks from it's last post. Then set Shelter threads to automatically move to the release forum after they lock.

    Automation FTW!

Why not just close it manually and immediately move it manually? Not to hard to do and it again cuts down on release date BS.

I like the auto-lock and release idea, manually closing the threads is fine but there might be disagreement as to when a thread should be closed. Having a set amount of time between the last post and auto-locking a thread is the better way to go.

Be a good idea for the Help Desk as well.

What, you mean auto-lock old Help Desk threads? Obviously those don't have to be moved to be made visible.

Yes, maybe it should be four weeks since the last post or even sooner.

    :clyde:

I'd also appreciate a bit of clarification regarding the current HD policy, I am under the impression that they are closed when resolved yet it seems only a handful of mods ever actually close HD threads.

Yeah, we're supposed to be closing them when they're resolved. It can be hard to tell when that is, tho. Maybe we should just do something like two weeks with no posts in a Help Desk thread means it's run its course.

Somewhat on topic, are the releases supposed to happen when it says "4 weeks ago" or when it stops saying that?

Can we please just forget the retarded 4 week garbage and just release the shit when we are done with it.

    Handle...close...move...forget it.

No more trying to keep track of time and no more specific dates for Faceman &Co to wank over.

There is nothing to hide here and if it isn't finished yet, it won't be released until it is. If there has been no reply for a few days...say 7.. and no one is on vacation to wait for an opinion from..then get it outta here.

I picked four weeks cuz it seemed a reasonable amount of time to make sure no-one had anything else to say on a topic while allowing for folks to be on vacation or whatever. If you think we can cut that down, fine. What's everyone else think?

And O2C, I meant for the cut-off to be as soon as the thread displayed "four weeks ago" for last activity, not when it went past that.
