This is an honest-to-god chain of thought I just had, but no matter how I phrase it, it will be seen as trolling Muad Dib, hence, the title. Okay, so, MD; Considering your love for all things confederate, your insistence on it being "half time", and essentially aligning yourself with the generalised collective of the confederacy, and all it's successes and heroes.... How can you in the same breath claim a "it's nothing to do with me" stance for any of it's shortcomings? Surely, if you claim kin with a particular group, then you should be aknowledging failure as much as you celebrate successes? And that applys to anyone here. Lots of people claim that they're part of a tribe, or people, or whatever, claiming part of the collectives successes, but then become suddenly individualistic when it comes to the failures. What's with that?
I assume it's like how people romanticize and get a hard on for the medieval period and go to those faggy little fairs to dance like fairies. They either don't know how backwards and fucking stupid everyone was back then or think somehow that the ideals that came about during the 20th century we take for granted were around back then too. On top of that Muad Dib has to try and ignore the whole slavery thing too, a somewhat promminent feature of the Confederacy.
I embrace my Scottish ancestry - whenever I meet another Scot, I rape his wife and steal his cattle. I hope I don't go senile and get that backwards some day.
Speaking for myself, I know that there are plenty of failures associated with the CSA. I also see the failures associated with the USA. In fact, I think I'm one of the relatively few people that apply the same arguments people make against the Rebel flag against the Star Spangled Banner as well. You choose what you honor and people shouldn't automatically attack you for what they think you mean.
