Obama administration directs schools to accommodate transgender students

The Obama administration on Friday directed schools across the nation to provide transgender students with access to suitable facilities — including bathrooms and locker rooms — that match their chosen gender identity.

The move, which affects all public schools and most colleges and universities that receive federal funds, plunges the administration even further into the country’s ongoing contentious debate over transgender rights.

The directive comes from two top administration officials: Catherine E. Lhamon, the assistant secretary of education for civil rights, and Vanita Gupta, head of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. It put state and local officials and higher-education institutions on notice that they risk losing federal education aid if they limit students to areas or teams based on their gender assigned at birth.​

Not only does the administration threaten to cut all federal funding from schools that don't let boys shower with the girls, they'll cut funding to any school that doesn't let boys play on the women's team. Note that unlike the Olympics, which at least requires low testosterone levels for a man to compete as a woman (which itself will be a disaster), the administration's position only requires "chosen gender identity". The only question is which high-school will win their state women's basketball championship by fielding the most boys. Once one school does the rest will have to follow suit or become perpetual losers.

The ensuing revolt, just starting in Congress and in the states, will be a fitting epitaph to eight years of insanity.

Boys have always been allowed to be on women's sports teams. 15 years ago I lettered in Women's Soccer.

Lt Gov: Texas Will Forego Federal Funds Over LGBT Policy

Texas' lieutenant governor said Friday that the state is prepared to forfeit billions of federal dollars in public school funding in defiance of an Obama administration directive requiring schools to allow transgender students to use bathrooms and locker rooms consistent with their chosen gender identity.

The new directive is expected to worsen tensions between Republican-led statehouses and the federal government over divisive social issues. It clarifies expectations for districts receiving federal school funds, which Texas' powerful Republican lieutenant governor argues the state's 5.2 million public school students can now do without.

"We will not be blackmailed by the president's 30 pieces of silver," Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said. "The people of Texas and the Legislature will find a way to find as much of that money as we can if we are forced to."​

The administration has badly overreached. A lot of states will forgo federal funding, calling the federal government's bluff. This puts the Obama administration in the position of slashing school funding so boys can shower with girls and play on girls' sports teams. Under the federal policy, the school board and coaches can't even stop boys from getting on the girl's teams because that would be grounds for a civil rights lawsuit that would see the school stripped of federal funding. It puts the miscreant boys on the basketball team in charge of the fate of women's sports. They'll do it because they think it's funny.

Add any actual text supporting this nonsense to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and not a single person in Congress would have voted for it, and even Martin Luther King would have denounced it. "So somebody snuck in a provision that means that black boys can shower with white girls in school and white boys can follow black girls into the bathroom? Which Klansman did that, Robert Byrd? Strom Thurmond? Ain't nobody gonna vote for it now."

It's not a black/white issue, it's that University of Kentucky recruiting prospects will be able to say they are "gender fluid" and play for both their high school boys team and their high school girls team, going to both state finals and winning the girl's championship by 134 to 12. And nobody would be able to stop them from doing it.

This is the same hysterical rhetoric that I heard when DADT was repealed and the military was allowed to same sex marriage. I heard all the shot about straights were gonna gay marry to get out the barracks and that we were becoming a military of fruits.

Except, none of that happened. If anything, we got more qualified servicemen that wanted to be there and a bunch more women that weren't gonna pull the accidental pregnancy card two weeks before deployment.
