What is your opinion on his Presidency, the positives and negatives... And also about the man himself, your impression of him and his family... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry...sidents_us_57a1ffe5e4b0e2e15eb7f5f9?section=&
He accomplished a few things, ACA being the main one, there was a promise of a new deal at the beginning but it mostly just became tax cuts and aid to state governments, but in reality he could accomplish little after the first two years both because of Republican sabotage but also because he just didn't really know how to get things done the way LBJ did. He even preemptively sold out on the ACA then compromised on his own compromise to vainly, and rather niavely, try to attract Republicans giving them exactly what they said they wanted only to have them vote against it anyway as part of political theater. His heart was often in the right place but he fubbed most foreign policy issues, failed to whip his own party, and just couldn't punish the other party by twisting arms the way the experienced LBJ could. Hillary will probably fair no better and likely doesn't really want to. She will probably go down in 2020 if the Republicans can manage to find a competent person to represebt them (which I admit is a big if).
He spent a lot of time and effort to please a bunch of people who were never going to be happy with what he did. He sold many of his ideas to the grand bargain that never came. He managed to kill record numbers of innocent people with bombings he promised to stop. He forced us all to pay money to the health insurance companies who were scamming the hell out of us. He did bring jobs back to the economy, but he allowed those jobs to be underpaid so we would have to subsidize the commercial workforce. He did get a good deal to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons. He made sure the rich got richer. He showed us how to snatch defeat from victory a number of times. He coddled crybaby republicans every chance he got and helped to promote our present divide by never calling them out on their bullshit from the bully pulpit. All in all he is what in would have expected from a black tool president of the right wing.
No, I and any knowledgeable person dispute that he killed record numbers of innocent people. The terrorists always use their families as human shields and when you kill their members they always claim they were innocent goat herders. That does not make it so.
On the man and his family. Seems pretty grounded, intelligent and decent. Has a sense of humour and is self deprecating, something you can bet Trump and possible Hillary won't be. In terms of what he's done in office, he seems largely pretty ineffective. In terms of domestic action, I wouldn't like to pass a verdict since a lot of it doesn't impact me. I'd say that Obamacare seems a step in the right direction. But he seems to have been ineffectual on he gun issues and I wouldn't like to speculate on his handling of the economy since part of that will not doubt be impacted by inevitable post recession stimulation. In terms of foreign policy, I think the deal with Iran and improved relations with Cuba are his only real major achievements. I don't think he, like many European leaders, takes the fight with IS and Sunni Islamic extremism seriously enough and not enough has been done to destroy groups like IS, Al Shababb and so on. Similarly, I think he's been caught napping on this issue of Russia and European security. He's also arguably given very little attention at all to Africa and US policy in respect of African issues. His failure to close Gitmo is a travesty. However, proactive effectiveness is one thing. With the exception of the terrorism issue, I feel safer in a world lead by Obama than I did under Bush as I don't feel he has taken actions that have caused us substantial harm, such as the Iraq invasion. So I suppose there's that. I think the bottom line is that I'd much rather have 4 more years of Obama than Hillary and especially Trump. So, in that respect, I guess you could say his presidency has been more of a success than a failure when it comes to stability and global confidence, but he's certainly not what he promised he would be so in terms of his own promises, I think the jury is out.
He only seems self-deprecating because it lets him crank "I" and "my" from 10 to 11 in his speeches. Seven years on and he has never given a speech that isn't mostly about him. I'm sure Queen Elizabeth II is still listening to his iPod gift loaded with his greatest speeches about himself. Okay, I'm pretty sure she her butler threw it in the trash. Anyone of us would do the same, which is why none of us has ever posted a link to Obama's greatest speeches. Those are about as popular as acne and head lice outside of Obama World.
My opinion is "Meh". Did nothing to end the ridiculous waste of money and human life that is the war on drugs. Something that disproportionately affects blacks and latinos, encarcerates millions of non violent people, separates families and ruins prospects of a productive future after conviction and release from prison. Did next to nothing to slow or halt the militarization of our police forces and their disproportionate aggression when dealing with minorities and disabled people. Continued domestic spying and surveillance. And while Obamacare provided coverage for millions of Americans who otherwise wouldn't be able to get any it also ramped up costs for premiums and deductibles for middle income families. What a waste. Other than gay marriage being legalized for whom we can thank the Supreme Court for he might as well been a Republican from the early 90's.
His justice department has taken a hands-off approach to dispensaries and state legalization, and Obama himself has commuted the sentences of hundreds of non-violent drug offenders. Not nearly far enough, but still a step in the right direction.
He didn't screw the pooch. Unlike his predecessor. I'm disappointed the rabid right effectively muzzled him during the second term. I'm disappointed the health insurance industry mandated the ACA as it is. Government regulated single payer (may be multiple insurance companies all with the same protocols) is the only practical way of managing health care. Yes, it does need to be managed, and not by those interested in just shareholders' interests.
Yes yes, we all know killing Muslims gives you a hard on. Some of the rest of us recognize innocent human casualties because we respect life and are not genocidal racists like yourself. So take that no and shove it up your ass because he has killed record numbers of innocents despite claiming he would not. He did it to satisfy ungrateful evil little racists like yourself and you should say thank you to the man.
Well, he didn't federally override the state legalizations of weed, and he could have. About the only good thing you can say about him in that area.
I used my toddler as a human shield at a water park yesterday. He was fine with it. Not sure what the big deal is
You assume the GOP will still be viable and intact after this election Agreed on the ACA. The only people that benefitted were those that companies used to reject and they were willing to pay almost any price for coverage. For everyone else, not so much.
If anything, Trump losing might stimulate a proper introspection, which can go one of two ways. Either the party unites, or it goes the way of the UK Labour Party and complety fractures in the absense of a true leader - in which case the likes of Ramen and gtardo better stock up on issues for their tears as it'd mean at least 12 years more of Democrats.
Yeah. I have two. I'm just saying sometimes people like being human shields. Like children or dirty muslims.
Personally? I'm sure he's a good guy. As President? Disastrous. The ACA. Domestic spying. The precipitous withdrawal from Iraq. The nuclear deal with Iran. The executive nullification of immigration laws. The lack of leadership in foreign affairs which has emboldened adversaries. Lower job market participation, record number of people on food stamps. Race relations at worst in decades. Positive things? The call to go after bin Laden in Pakistan was pretty gutsy.
Women find you repulsive because of your British teeth, polarizing scent, and assholish level of unjustified arrogance. This is why you are unable to get laid and spawn mini-Chups.
I'm lying, then what is this? http://wordforge.net/index.php?threads/for-the-record.109661/#post-2838825
