It may be the Red Room but there are actual mod-like things to do in there occasionally.

I used to forget to do it once in awhile when I was in there too. Red takes care of itself mostly...but moving threads, unfortunately, is necessary all too often.

Someone needs to have a talk with Techman as to what constitutes a Red Room thread.

Just start treating his like I treat The Flashlights. Move them without the redirect.

Personally, I only use the redirects if the thread is busy when I move it or it has a lot of responses.

Most of the time, I just make it disappear.

It's a community thread. It's not sensitive, philosophical, political, religious, or a bizarre combination of the four.

So Mewa gets to run amok in The Red Room and start any kind of thread anywhere he wants? He's on record as hating The Green Room. That sounds like a personal problem to me. He can deal with it or he can go back on sabbatical.

Listen, I know I'm not an easy guy to "work" for. I expect a lot out of my staff. I know full well that you can't be here all the time. I wasn't here this evening. I came in late and now I'm winding down for bed.

But, when you agreed to come onto the staff I hope it wasn't just for the "perks." Sometimes you've just gotta do something even if it's unpopular.

Got to admit, when I move stuff - such as Midnight's thread about the lock-up - I leave a redirect, simply because it makes the point that the thread was started in the wrong place. I'd hope that when people see redirects, they'd think twice about where a thread should be started.
None of the above applies to Flashlight's threads that should be in MC, obviously...

I concur. I usually leave a redirect. However, The Flashlight is a special case. I don't leave them on his for obvious reasons.

I think we should make it a sort of rule that you have to leave a redirect (unless it is Flashlight). Otherwise people aren't going to want to hunt down the threads, and that hurts posting.

I'm using an 8 hour expire on those RR threads I move.

Except for Flashlight's of course.

Techman's temperature blogs have earned Flashlight status as far as I'm concerned.
