About what? Carol being a girl?

I'm only surprised she's going for UA. He's not an illegal Mexican or a lesbian.

You would have to pin his long-winded, pretentious ass down to a succinct point of view before you could even guess at any similarities. I just went for his custom user title.

Long-winded? My laconic brevity is legendary. :marathon:

Generally I oppose any forms of taxation, any forms of arbitrary authority, any laws that go beyond serving to protect members of a society from force, and any form of government. I reject any notion of responsibility for the lives and actions of others: I am not my brother's keeper, nor is he mine. Is that succinct enough?

    We part there.

And what, in your view, would not be an arbitrary authority?

Sure. And I agree with most of that. But it is incompatible with anarchy.

I might accept the authority of a geologist to speak knowledgeably about the earth, for instance. I would not accept the authority of the tribal leader to tell me what to do and take my shit.
    How so?

Laws, implemented by a central authority, enforced by a policing body, and prosecuted by formal judical/penal system are necessary to protect citizens from the imposition of force. And that's before you get into a mechanism for contract and trade law, standing military to protect sovereign borders, and a formal means of negotiating for international trade and diplomacy. Anarchy is usually the bullshit strawman argument leveled against libertarianism.

My ideology is anarchist, but obviously it's not practical in the real world, so that's where libertarianism (a compromise) comes into play. I recognise the necessity of the things you've identified, but would ideally keep them to an absolute minimum. With perfect human nature, entailing that one person respects the rights and property of another absolutely, anarchy would work. So while it is a pipe dream, it is still my dream. :techman:

I like anarchy too. Especially if it's in her ass. :diacanu:

carolvs's beliefs just seems like an un-thought out cro-magnon version UA's. Give em a few more years of real world experience and he might, might resemble UA a bit.
