All Good Things...

...come to an end.

Effective upon acceptance of my resignation by Tamar, Lanzman, and Chris, I will be stepping down. Not because of anger or tauntings, but because I've become burnt out, two years is a long time to do anything.

It has been an honour and a pleasure serving with all of you, and should Elwood ever need me to serve again in the future, I will do so without question.

You've done good work, as much as you've had hiccups and bits of downtime there really hasn't been too much of either on your watch. Getting 98%+ uptime on something you're not even paid for and that you learned from scratch is a damn fine accomplishment.

O2C, are you up to the task of running the mighty engines of Wordforge without back-up? At least until we can find another Nick (or a clone . . . possibly an evil one . . . ) to assist?

I've expressed my feelings about this to Nick in private so there's no need for me to do it here.

However, I will be assisting the administrators in choosing a replacement if we go that route, because that is the single most trusted position on the board as far as I'm concerned.

I can think of a couple of people who I think would have the technical skills, but I very much doubt either of them would have the time. Plus, as Elwood said, there are trust issues here: tech people need to be Caesar's wife as far as that's concerned.

In many ways, Wordforge is as much you as it is Elwood. You've worked miracles here to keep it going...particularly during the bad old days of Borgs. There is no doubt that we need you. That is no slight to O2C...it is just you have poured your heart and soul into this place.

So, I'm sorry...I will never accept your resignation. Obviously, I can't stop you from leaving....but being an Admin means looking to the board and it's needs first. And accepting you leaving is in no way what is best for WF.

Don't worry, before I quit I'm giving everyone a batch of goodies.

I'm not leaving leaving. It's like joining the army, you spend your 4 years on active duty, and then you spend time in the reserves. I did my two years active duty, if this place goes down the shitter in my absence, I know one of you will call me back to duty.

But right now, I don't want to be a tech admin. Lately I don't enjoy myself when I come here, because all I see is work to be done, and unlike Elwood, there aren't three other qualified people on staff to take up the helm in my absence.

I just thought of a nerdy star trek analogy.

Just like The Next Generation didn't end with All Good Things, neither will I, instead I'll return for several summer blockbusters. I'll return in Generations, where I and Pablo Diablo will fight against a madman trying to use the server to attain eternal life on the internet, destroying the Wordforge 3.0 in the process. I will then return in First Contact, where I will prevent the evil Trekbbs from stopping the maiden voyage of Wordforge IPB. I will finally return once more in a shitty film known as Nemesis, where I will have to fight a younger, better looking, but ultimately self-destructive clone of myself as he tries to destroy Wordforge 4.0.

I was off staff for a whole month. Then Elwood came back and called me back up, I remember being off staff because I was one of the people that helped rep war Tasvir to the ground.
