I used keepvid for a number of years whenever I wanted to grab a yt vid to my hard drive, but as of a couple weeks ago it's no longer a YT download site apparently.

    Anyone got good alternative suggestions?

They're all moving to subscription based services. I've used the whole lot of them, and their in-browser extensions are garbage now. Half the time you get a message that says the program can't parse the video, or is only available via the premium option, even if it's a standard Youtube video. For the longest time, after KeepVid stopped working properly, I used Savefrom.net, but even they have been doing the subscription/premium thing.

So, let's see: https://www.savethevideo.com/ may be the last site I can think of that doesn't push a subscription model, and it seems to download videos just fine. That's about all I can think of.
