I used keepvid for a number of years whenever I wanted to grab a yt vid to my hard drive, but as of a couple weeks ago it's no longer a YT download site apparently. Anyone got good alternative suggestions?
They're all moving to subscription based services. I've used the whole lot of them, and their in-browser extensions are garbage now. Half the time you get a message that says the program can't parse the video, or is only available via the premium option, even if it's a standard Youtube video. For the longest time, after KeepVid stopped working properly, I used Savefrom.net, but even they have been doing the subscription/premium thing. So, let's see: https://www.savethevideo.com/ may be the last site I can think of that doesn't push a subscription model, and it seems to download videos just fine. That's about all I can think of.
I found this on a Google search, and its been doing fine. https://acethinker.com/online-downloader I used to use this as emergency backup to Keepvid when it would break down for a day. https://en.savefrom.net/1-how-to-download-youtube-video/ It works all right, but it stuffs ads in your face. It also will sometimes crack open a site that has a streaming podcast, but no MP3 download button.
