Way to take what everyone, including the Israeli soldiers said out of context.

    Dayton is 100% correct.

No nation should sacrifice their own soldiers to save civilian lives.

So, if innocent people were killed by the tactics the Israeli Military used, too fucking bad. That is the price people pay for allowing terrorists to camp in their fucking backyard.

I have 'zero' sympathy for these people.

I don't think soldiers should "try" to kill enemy civilians just for the "hell of it".

That is immoral in my opinion.

But if the civilians are providing aid and comfort to enemy combatants or providing some resources that the enemy combatants use then I see them as legitimate targets.

And if during the "fog of war" enemy civilians get killed, that is a tragedy, not a crime.

Like I've said, soldiers should avoid killing enemy civilians if it does not endanger them for three obvious reasons.

    1) It is immoral to deliberately kill civilians for no reason.

    2) Beyond the immorality, I recall studies that show that soldiers who do so tend to lose their combat effectiveness over time (don't recall the link).

    3) Beyond #1 & #2, no war lasts forever, eventually people in the world have to learn to live together again. It is much easier to do so if neither side deliberately kills civilians for no apparent reason.

But this idea of "anytime a civilian is killed it's a war crime" is utterly ridiculous.

You mean unlike oh say the USA. I mean what did we do to the Native Americans who live here? We do teach Manifest Destiny in our schools still you know. Trail of Tears sound familiar? WWII bombing campaigns bombing whole cities , Dresden for example, to stop Axis manufacturing. Remember those things? Civilians killed in time of war because we needed to destroy what they were living near. Remember us conquering Texas, New Mexico and California from Mexico? We haven't returned these occupied lands have we? Are there still Indian Reservations or have we given them back all the land we stole from them?

No no, all we want is the same standard that is applied to the US to be applied to Israel.

And not for the first time, Dayton lies about what has been stated in order to pretend that it really wasn't that bad.

This is indiscriminate murder, not a mistake based on faulty intelligence.

Now, while I know Dayton has no problem with this practice, it is a war crime and it is confirming what Amnesty alleged.

    As are the following.

    So again, what is "incorrect"?

No. German population centres were targetted specifically for the purpose of spreading terror, not to destroy military or industrial equipment.

But after WWII, the US and others agreed not to do this again, thus adopting standards that are now being violated.

Uh, Dresden was, but even then they weren't merely retribution.

The idea behind the attacks were that they would draw resources away to protect these cities and people.

That's what total war's all about.
