No, not a parody. Just some food for thought. Isn't this what we've always wanted? For moderates to step up and disavow the extremists?
I'm generally cynical about the human race. But seeing stuff like this gives me some small hope that we can actually be a decent species one day.
It's a wonderful sign for Libya's future, and for our relations with the Arab world. On another note, I was watching one of the third-tier Fox News Bots going on and on about how Obama threw our valuable ally Kaddafi under the bus. What? When did Kaddafi become a friend to the US? What did I miss? Did that happen??
Those people are very brave. They could be targeted for reprisal by extremists, so nobody should take their reaching out lightly that's for sure.
Well, after we made Saddam go away, Uncle Moammar did sorta see the light in a modest fashion. Disavowed WMDs, stopped his nuclear program, became much more willing to talk. But "valuable ally"? Not hardly.
Gaddafi was a self-serving weasel whose sole motivation was his own survival. His ditching the weapons post-Saddam was the action of a furtive kid trying to literally save his own neck.
Better late than never I suppose. I just wish we would have seen more of this post 9/11. Let's hope it builds momentum and doesn't die an early death.
Worked for what? Didn't do his people or, ultimately, him any good. Did it inspire you to say anything nice about him while he was still alive? Refresh my memory.
