And now for a controversial topic- Nazis suck.

And by that, I mean, if they'd never touched a hair on the head of a single Jew, they'd still suck.
    Their whole thing sucked.
The authoritarian order barking, the boot clomping, fatherland worshiping, conformist, new-age mysticism, silly dress-code, heap of horseshit.
    Top to bottom.
This notion that if the holocaust could just be denied away, everything would be ducky needs squelching.
Likewise, the melodramatic butt-hurt when you compare other authoritarian things to Nazis.
"The police can be heavy-handed, but they never killed any Jews! How dare you say "fascist!"".
"Beating up one guy isn't killing 3 MILLION JEWS".
Yeah, no shit, dipshit. Fascism is the whole deal, not just the body count.
Tired of this dumb, ugly, thuggy crap being hidden under the body count.
It's deliberate dishonesty, let's root it out.

On a serious note (:muad2:, Zombie!), anyone who wants a quick answer to why the goose-stepping and all the other trappings would have been appealing even without Versailles and The Jewish Question, there's this:

    Incorrect.

The Soviet regime that existed for decades caused considerable harm to my ancestors, therefore directly affected myself and my family, and as an American I find their actions morally reprehensible. However the actions of the Nazi party affected mainly the Jewish population (IIRC) and as both a Christian and an American I find their actions irrelevant as those actions did not affect myself or anyone I know directly.

Sorry Dayton, that post clearly shows your name. If those aren't your words, I can only assume somebody has hacked your account. Would you like me to lock it until we can straighten this out?

Not much difference between them. They're both authoritarian, totalitarian dictatorships that crush individuals under foot in the name of some exalted collective (das Volk or the proletariat).

It's been said that if Hitler and Stalin sat down for a chat, they would've seen eye-to-eye on everything but economics (the Nazis favoring a very "mixed" economy, the Soviet Communists a socialist one).

Ah, so you are the one who created the dual username?

Isn't that a gross abuse of power by an administrator?

I've never created any duals, I just see no evidence of one in this case. Dayton3 isn't like NotDayton. It's an existing user name, something that cannot be assigned to two accounts. Do you believe your account has been hacked?

If you look closely at the username, the "n" is...different...from the "n" in the username to which you just replied.

Well, I don't know if it's Ed or not -- although the custom title certainly suggests that it is -- but if nothing else, the dual creator gets some points for ingenuity. I didn't even know the software would allow non-Roman characters in usernames.

Hmmm... I'd never considered the potential of exploiting the similarities between the standard alphabet and the various special characters. This has great humor potential, both here, and elsewhere. Bwahahaha.

I've kinda got a premonition that a new member, named Ĵõħŋ Ćåşŧļệ, (or something thereabouts), might soon join our ranks.

Assuming your accusation is right, that there's a dual, what would you have me do? We have no rules against duals.

    It's up to your discretion.

The old guard left the duals alone so long as they thought they were funny.

Duals, having separate on line personas on the board at the same time for various reasons is one thing.

Has it ever occurred to you that creating duals SPECIFICALLY to troll another member is taking the thing too far?

So far, this one seems to have stimulated plenty of funny. I'm thinking a Garannet might be a good one, too.
