You know what's cool? Somewhere out there, there's a Navy SEAL who knows HE is the one who capped Osama bin Laden. I know his identity will likely remain secret forever (or, at least, for many, many years), but THAT GUY should never have to buy his own beer again.
Oh, the entire US Navy is grinning their asses off over this one. It's the most EPIC PWNAGE of the other Branches of the Armed Forces EVER.
His identity won't remain secret for long if he gets that 30 or 40 million or however much the bounty is.
Not only is it not allowed, but the entire operation was a joint effort. The guy will never come forward and say "I" did it. In fact, the only people who will ever know are the people in that room and depending on the positioning of the camera, the people on the receiving end of the live feed. Oh, I guess, those people are wild cards. If the guy's name is ever disclosed, it will be by one of the people seeing the live feed. The Seals won't talk.
At least one of the SEALs, possibly more, had a helmet camera that was transmitting live. Presumably there was a relay transmitter in one of the helicopters standing off nearby, and it was kicked up to a sat and straight into the white house where BHO and crew watched the whole thing going down as it happened. It's a video everybody wants to see but I don't see them ever releasing it somehow. If nothing else it would be pretty inevitable that certain classified details about the SEALs would be made obvious in the vid. Maybe someone will leak the video... you never know.
Good thing that SEAL shot him instead of arresting him and punching him in the face. He would be facing a court-martial by now.
In fact this group of SEAL's did face that exact thing when they punched that one terrorist asshole in the face. Those SEAL's came from this group. And I just listened to some dumb leftist whine that we should have taken him alive and given him Miranda rights at the compound and that any person we caught on a battlefield should get the same thing. It seriously never ceases to amaze me how clueless and stupid leftists are.
There were helmet cams on some of the guys, but none on anyone in room with bin-ladin. They did have a live audio feed and heard when he (his code name was Geronimo - not sure why he should have the insult of having his name used) was shot as the SEAL's announced he was EKIA.
He shouldn't, and neither should any member of the team, but here's how it'll actually go. Random drunk dudes who will try to get free drinks (or pick up chicks) by pretending to be part of Navy Seal Team 6: Several thousand. Actual members of Navy Seal Team 6 who will ever spill the beans in that kind of circumstance: None.
True. I know a guy who was one of France's elite Navy specops. He probably knows so many dirty secrets (like who did in the Rainbow Warrior; it may well be that he did it himself) it's a wonder the government hasn't had him assassinated just to make sure he keeps quiet. He's been retired from the military for quite a few years now. But he won't say one word about specific operations. No sense in even asking him questions. The guy's a living tomb as far as information goes. To listen to him, he never did anything.
The one recorded on a sound stage the week before and replayed in front of the Prez while WH photographers took photos of him looking all concerned and President-like to fool the sheeple.
Yep. Which is why I hate that part of the "stolen valor" law has been gutted. Oh and dont forget all of the folks who are "relatives" of the DEVGRP SEALs that will pop up all over the place.
