I can't speak to SoCal or Arizona, but that's not really the case here. Sure, there are lots of Mexican-American people here, but the vast majority of them are loyal citizens of this country.

Given my profession, if that kind of thinking were prevalent here, I'd definitely be aware of it and I just don't see or hear people like that. Many people have a fondness for the "old country", but they're on this side of the river because they know Mexico is a basket case.

For someone brought up in a multi-cultural country for the first 18 years of his life, I can assure you that multi-culturalism DOES NOT WORK in the advancement of a country. Where I am from, Gujratis don't like Bangalis; Bangalis can't stand Dillis'; Dilli people hate the Northern people and Northerners fucking hate the Tamils. YET, we are all 'Indians'.

The British had beef. And potatoes actually originated in Peru. But since there is no exclusively "American" food (unless you want to live on maize and pemmican), what you're really talking about when you say "American" food, culture, language, is actually English. What did the Pilgrims bring with them on the Mayflower? Salt beef/pork, beans? Wow, yummy.

There's your melting pot. If you expect everyone to shed their culture and become "American" (whatever that is; virtually everything you consider "American" came here from somewhere else), you can't have any of the nice things they brought with them.

Yes America is a melted pot of many cultures. American has taken all the good things (and yes some bad ones too) and melted it into the American culture. That is what makes America unique in the world. It's also what makes every other culture that brings in immigrants unique.

America is not a multicultural country. Multiculturalism doesn't work because it keeps people and their cultures separate and isolated from each other.

I think you're getting caught up in the discussion of abortion here (hence your use of "bullshit"). The larger issue really is contraception. Legalizing abortion took it up an order or two of magnitude but whether apostle realized it or not freewheeling use of contraception is, as you suggest, the limiting factor on natural-born US citizenry that I was going for in my thought.

Without that, post WWII and by now, I'm guessing our population would probably be closer to 30-40 million higher. And, again, as I said before, most of those people would be starting their lives in a lower socioeconomic status. That's not all bad, they probably would've done fairly well in their lives as most Americans tend to do, after all. There certainly wouldn't have been the incentive or possibly even the freedom for us to have opened up our immigration policies as much as we did back in the 60's and 70's.
