SOOOOOO bored during lockdown and very tempted by feelgood buys. I've been playing Star Wars: The Old Republic and KOTOR2 a lot, so been hitting up Wookiepedia a fair bit. Guess Google's algorithms noticed, as I'm getting ads for Ultrasabers.com:

    https://ultrasabers.com/product-category/single-blade-sabers/

Quite tempted, but it's a fair bit on a frippery. Anyone got experience with this company or is there a better alternative?

I think IO saw them a couple dragoncons ago in the dealer room. Looked pretty sweet in person back then, and had a nice weight and feel. I didn't want to wack one on anything given I was not prepared to purchase one. I cannot be sure it was the same company, but ultrasabers sounds really familiar. I am pretty sure I remember it because the fanboy stench was strong around the booth and my eyes kept watering up.

Welp, after an 8-week wait with no email updates despite me contacting them 3 times, my saber shipped and will be here next Friday. Dunno if I will buy from them again, however - customer service was shite and someone posted a link to reviews by former employees that basically make the owner out to be an asshole who yells at staff, physically intimidates them and makes them clock out for bathroom breaks (usually a sign of a sweatshop). And he just bought himself a new Ferrari so it seems to be all about the bucks.

Kinda glad I only sprang for a $200 saber, some guys on their forums are putting down $1500 orders!

I was looking at these guys, but TBH, I'm not seeing a huge difference in the implied product quality.
I'm thinking the lower grades aren't hard combat quality though. "display" kind of alludes to that for me.

I don’t see anything that goes for $1,500 there. But share the details of the one you got. I’d be real interested in seeing what it looks like as I have a feeling that they could be done for way less money.

Guessing multiple sabers for $1500, some of these guys are hardcore collectors and want every hilt type. I've seen forum posts where they're buying four or five in a go.

There's been some back and forth on their forum about the employee reviews - one guy suggested he'd reached out to workers and they said the opposite, and that one of the former employees there is former for a good reason and has started his own rival company. So it may be pinch of salt stuff.

Alternatively, folks are buying two of the more expensive hilts with a coupler to make a saberstaff - they have some cheaper pre-made staff options but any of the straight hilts CAN be coupled though you'd need a soundcard for each. You could stack up to over $1k that way.

Anyhoo, mine showed up. Very pleased with it.

Annoyingly, I 3D printed the perfect retaining clips to hold the saber to my stairwell but I'd rather not glue them to the wood and the "No More Nails" adhesive tabs I bought ended up coming off after a few hours.

Anyhoo, I've been impressed with this one and the negative stuff about the company seems to have been refuted (and they appear to be doing better on delivery/email response) so I've sprung for a replica of Kanan Jarrus' saber from Rebels (only with a green blade) plus a mystery box (these guarantee at least a $75 saber, so typically they are "stunt" sabers that only light up and lack sound, but you can be lucky - they can also be any hilt in the range so the hilt may end up being worth more than $75... but I'm expecting one of the lower-end hilts anyway, it's just as a dual-wield partner for the one above).
