Chess? I haven't played in years. Used to play a lot when I was five or so against my mother and grandfather, but I've not touched the game sense I was... well 10 or so.

So how about you all, any of you play the game?

Sorry, no. I can't play any games that require thinking very far ahead, or involve strategy of any kind. Even card games leave me in the dust!

I like to play chess, even though I'm not any good at it.

No thanks. I'd rather play Global Thermonuclear War.

I am so bad at chess. The only strategy I know is move randomly so they don't know what to do about you, but that really opens it up for the other player to play offensively.

My roommate used to be really good, but he won't play anymore because he is afraid how disappointed he will be in himself for letting his skill fade.

I'm half-decent. Wouldn't last long against professionals, but at least I don't regularly leave a piece or two hanging per game anymore :whacko:

A soldier I know is ranked very high nationally. He's all full of tatoos and talks and acts totally country. Doesn't seem like the intelligent "chess" type to me.

Chess is apparently very popular in prison as well. I guess prisoners watched a little too much Blazing Saddles.

Bart: What is your pleasure? What do you like to do?
The Kid: I dunno. Play chess. Screw.
    Bart: Let's play chess.

I used to play others online when I got bored.

I'd have a simple chess program running and use the computer's moves as my own against my human opponent. :ramen:
