Not speaking for the administration but my personal feeling tells me that the editing was a spur of the moment. We all make mistakes.

    Thanks.

And please, somebody, close this thread as the question has been answered satisfactorily.

    Really now?

So I can post links to personal information off the board now? That's good to know. :bergman:

Do I get an apology for being booted off staff for a week for posting a link to a live journal?

My point is, it is awesome you are willing to apologize, but you were following the boards usual MO is these circumstances and honestly, you shouldn't apologize for that.

It just seems more confusing because you're the victim of the troll and not a regular poster...it adds a layer of unnecessary drama that doesn't need to be there when viewed with some objectivity.

    Yes.

    I agree with Elwood.

    We should ban Packard.

    The only question is how.

The difference is that there was no personal info in the post by Cheeky Monkey, it was all a bunch of lies she made up.

When she posted them, did she add a disclaimer to let everyone know they were just lies and not to take them seriously, or did she purport them to be the truth?

Hard to tell when it's trolling or venting, and when it's life or death. It's probably just me.

IMHO fabricating false personal info is worse than divulging true info.

It's bad enough to reveal RL info on a poster. But to post false info as RL is wayyyyy over the line. I always liked CM. She seemed pretty teh hawt and pretty smart. But there was a line and she crossed it.

When we had the Meka/Ecc incident, Meka showed good graces by respecting Ecc's privacy. Now, she probably had some emails and PM's that I would have paid good money for, but she didn't play that shit. She conducted herself as a lady.

Vandy approached the line a few times over Anc IIRC, but she was sensible enough to not go too far.

No, when CM posted false info as true RL info out of nothing but pure romantic vindictiveness, she committed one of the most eggregious transgressions possible on this board. Had it regarded any other board member besides Elwood, I would have expected the Mods to take the same action. She got what she deserved.

Can we close this one? Before it burst into flames?

    Asked, and answered.
