Since nuance went out the window with the thread that generated this, what was the impetus that led to the two threads I quoted? And what is the common factor with the controversial thread?

Setting aside that Jews get shit on far too often throughout history, especially by an angry mediocre painter who ruined Chaplin mustaches, is calling out bad behavior by their religious leaders in the same manner as to the Catholic or Mormon priesthood verboeten? @Lanzman, what is your solution in this case? The thread title was already edited to be more specific as to the sect allegedly violating its authority and committing abuse, because on the face as knee-jerk reaction inducing as the edited title is, the original was moreso.

There seems to be a fine line where one is an acceptable target of contemptuous mockery and the other appears sacroscant. There's also no question that the sheer historical shit Jews got dragged through does afford them more respect than they are contemperarily given as a culture.

Note the commonality between the three threads, and if there's a good way to rename all three to fit that, mention it.

How about Are you a religious fundamentalist who engages in the worst aspects of humanity such as rape, torture, treating women as inferior, use women and children as human shields when physically attacked, kill innocent people over your religious beliefs, behead journalists, cover up rape scandals or other scandals, things of that nature, if so go fuck your self. There's a significant difference between the Catholic thread that I started almost four years ago and all the other dumbass "go fuck yourself" threads that were recently started.

The simple fact is that the Catholic Church has proven time and again that it's a corrupt organization solely interested in protecting its existence. That is not a slight against Christians as a whole; it is directly attributable to an organization that continually sweeps horrific crimes under the rug.

Put another way (and using another religion), one can condemn Israel's actions and not be an anti-semite.

I now regret my original thread title, as too many dumb fucks decided to jump on the bandwagon with their own stupid threads.

The point is to illustrate how certain groups can be attacked and everyone thinks it’s okay, but using the exact same verbiage against another group causes the clutching of pearls and gasping of outrage. Hypocrisy at its finest.
