You could replace "arrow" with "batarang" and say the pretty much the same thing. Green Arrow is largely a Batman ripoff. He had an Arrowcar, an Arrowplane, an Arrowcave, a teen sidekick. Oh there was a difference: rather than originally being a millionaire playboy who did nothing, Green Arrow used to be a millionaire playboy newspaper publisher IIRC. In the current continuity, he's a millionaire tech playboy. One of my favorite moments with him had Batman asking him "Have you ever had an original idea in your life?" or words to that effect. And of course Hawkeye is a Green Arrow ripoff. I would say that in terms of Avengers comics, Hawkeye fulfills a similar role to G.A. Both are the hotheaded humans who are good for some comic relief and for giving a more ordinary-joe perspective to these demi-gods and the earnest, if you will excuse the pun, straight-arrow, do-gooder types.
You'd think in the modern world a man with a bow and arrow would be as useful as a bird without wings. But comicbook logic always fails at that!
