After the shit Rio Tinto did, if the indigenous people want to start firebombing I’m not going to object too much.

Jesus fucking Christ, dude. All that concern for human rights just flies out the window when it's the "right" people being firebombed, eh?

Turns out you were the Dinner all along. :(

Yeah, fuck me for caring about a marginalized group having their shit wiped out by a multinational mining conglomerate that even though they got caught knowingly blowing up 10K+ year old historic artifacts still gets to operate freely in the world.

Remind me again of what your response to the BLM riots was? Were you cool with them burning down the police station in Minneapolis?

There were BLM riots? I thought they were legitimate protests. :chris:

But remind me, why did that police station get burned down? Was it over some "historic artifacts?" :chris:

Eh, the referendum was a silly idea. Giving "aboriginal people" a non-binding "advisory panel" or whatever is all but meaningless virtue signalling, but giving "aboriginal people" some sort of legally binding oversight would also have been fucked up. :clyde:

You don't think that riots can be legitimate forms of protest? :chris: Remember what MLK said? "A riot is the voice of the unheard."

Would you object if Native Americans torched the offices of a corporation that destroyed a Native American burial ground? How about if that corporation continued to act like assholes after they got caught destroying artifacts? Not academic questions, either.

Mining Company Not Sorry for Destroying 46,000-Year-Old Aboriginal Site: Report

Aboriginal elders suspend Rio Tinto site survey over heritage concerns

But it's interesting that you assumed when I said "firebombing" and "wouldn't object too much" that you automatically assumed that I'd be okay with them killing people over the destruction of items that have been around longer than the earliest known dates for humans being in the Americas. Especially since I'm not one to shy away from saying if I think people should be killed or not.

Now, do you want to have an honest discussion about this? Or do you want to continue to try to play stupid little "gotcha" games?

I want to continue to play stupid little gotcha games. But since I already won this one, there's little point in continuing for now.

Better luck next time, Dinner. :diacanu:

Plus a nice coffee for the wife. Since I don't like coffee I'm making myself a cheeky Sunday morning hot chocolate.

Lots of words get adjusted like that, but never heard election done in that way.

Probably because in most sentences the word election is redundant so gets dropped. Would instead get said as just a little brekky after voting.

Also I still intend to come back to this, sorry about delay. Suffering the newborn sleep deprivation so a lot of the day mind isn't in the place for an effort post.
