It isn't so much the insult, it's that he agrees with it without (apparently) knowing what it means.

It’s not like he’s agreeing with they guy calling him an idiot. It’s more like someone says something meaningless and … just being polite, and wanting to end the conversation, you just agree. It’s more like he’s saying “ok, whatever. Bye now”

Why do you assume he wouldn't know? If for no other reason, wouldn't the secret service brief him on seemingly random phrases that strangers harboring ill will towards him might use? You think the secret service didn't warn Dubya about angry looking Iraqis holding their shoes in their hands so he'd know when to duck?


I know your guy had a fragile ego, but Biden has happily embraced being the butt of countless jokes for a long time now, at least since he was first nominated for vice president.

I can easily believe that he doesn't know. Just because our last president spent hours every day lounging around watching TV and scrolling through Twitter doesn't mean that's what normal presidents do. They're generally pretty busy.

I can also pretty easily believe that he knows, but doesn't give a shit. Because most presidents aren't as pathetically insecure as the last guy, either.
