So you saw the part where this was the promised follow-on to last years pardon?

Your contention is that last year Biden knew about the October 7 massacre and the Israeli response and planned out an elaborate multi-year PR campaign?

I read that he had promised to follow up. I didn't read that he had promised to follow up at this particular time. It's possible that it's a coincidence but I'm much too cynical to take that for granted and I wouldn't be surprised if there are some other announcements in the pipeline designed to curry favour with his base, given where the polls are sitting.

It's just on the federal level. While I'm glad that at least these people will be set free for a victimless crime, this only applies to simple possession/usage, and the vast majority of people incarcerated for marijuana possession is on the state level. It's a good first step, but it is a very minimal first step. Still, this is something actually positive, so good.

The obvious next step is to tell the DEA and FDA to open the process of descheduling marijuana.

IIRC that’s up to Congress, specifically, in the case of marijuana. So don’t count on it.

Pretty sure there’s judicial precedent that implies that, since Congress didn’t delegate the initial scheduling of marijuana, the DEA and FDA can’t change it of their own accord, but I can’t be bothered to go find it today. So I hope you’re right.

Serious question, do you understand how few people are actually in jail under federal possession charges alone? Fucking Biden bro cock suckers. This barely effects anyone at all since most possesion charges are state charges, and if the feds are charging you with possession it is an additional charge to other charges because the feds do not bother with simple possession. It would all be much more serious crimes like sales.

This is a gigantic nothingburder because Biden needs some good press. Biden could work to get marijuana off of schedule one which would be something, but he wants to do nothing while getting praise for doing something.

Get his cock out your fucking mouth.

Let us remember the feds are not the ones arresting people just for having or smoking a joint. I would really love to see how many people this actually changes anything for. This is ujust Biden trying to please the people who are angry at him for supporting Isreal's genocide.

Do not fall for the retcon. This probably means he is about to give Isreal some nukes.

Oh, I agree. Even PBS has mentioned that this doesn't really free anyone, even with the latest addition:

    Source: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation...al-lands-and-in-washington-to-receive-pardons

I'm just hoping someone at the federal level realizes this is all bullshit, and would be a great boost for the Democrats if they would make it happen on the state level, too. There is no legitimate reason, in a country where alcohol and tobacco are plentiful and commercially successful, that marijuana should lead to a jail sentence.

The Biden Bro dems, aka dixiecrat cocksuckers, were the creators of pot criminality in order to criminalize the black community. Later on people like Biden supported tough on crime racist legislation made to destroy black males and family wealth in the black community while incarcerating large portions of them. This is along with the ability to seize large portions of cash without cause and never give it back even if you were never charged with a crime.

Biden made this shit. The Dems and repugs backed him. It goes on as planned to this day and Bidenm just pretended to do a small bit about it while he skillfully did absolutely nothing and the media and his cocksuckers are out here cheering while no one's life has been corrected. The problem with this is that now people will think a step was made, and this will excuse their conscience and when someone does say something needs to be done they will blow it off like they did something.

It actually works the opposite way as it is made to stop anything from being done by lowering the pressure to do something.

This is Dark Brandon at his finest.

three years later when he really needs some good press. I get what you are saying, but much like the Trump charges this is an unacceptable level of slowness in something that really needed to be done as quick as possible for research and to help people that for the past three years have been getting hit with much more severe charges and things like seizures because pot is so criminalized on a federal level.

Not good enough, especially when the dems have people they could run who would do something much better, and who don't need to concede to do these things. If things were going great for Biden we would not see any of this because he does not want any of this. So the world has to go to shit so Biden will do as little as possible on something that really does not offset the areas where he has let the world go to shit.

This is all negative for a man who had a lot of influence and backup who could have been fighting rather than sleeping away three years because he promised nothing is going to change to the dixiecrat wealthy supporters.

I figure if he does push it, there will be a bill that will do the bare minimum of what people need, and then set it to be implemented in 2026 or something, leaving it open to be rejected by the next president and/or governing body. This is how they've been doing these things for years, and that is a major concern. A lot of people, myself included, don't have faith in the system, because they know at the end of the day there's money to be made in keeping people incarcerated.

When it comes to old dixiecrat biden I do not even see it as money. It really seems as if it is the old grip on stealth racist policies accompanied with the hate of the poor. He is a very quiet racist and sexist asshole. He does not push for progressive ideas. Instead he acts as an anchor impeding progress while pretending he is progressive because he does not outright shout regressive racism. He stealths his regressive tactics that he uses to harm minority communities. It is only when he is fully beaten does he pretend to do things while doing nothing but strategically slowing down progress.

He is actually much worse than Trump is on this front because Trump inspires a progressive backlash that drives progress while Joe slows it down, and might even allow it to regress for years like he did with his tough on crime policies and drug criminalization support.

On the otherhand, my take on Biden's admin is slowly turning the knobs so those resistant are less likely to knee jerk.
Take student loans. His initial efforts were shot down by, frankly, hypocrites. So he's backdoored through means authorized to him a little here, a little there, to the point where $400 billion has been forgiven.

I try to take Biden's history of actually making predatory student loans a bigger thing into account therefor putting me on the other side as him trying to hold back the overwhelming tide and let the banks get a little more time by pretending to do something huge and falling way short.

But if you want to pretend the guy who helped engineer the problem over the years is now the guy who is now putting every effort he can into crashing his profitable beast while it makes more money for him and his friends in it's slow decline, then you are really gullible.

I don't think your cynicism is misplaced, but my sense is now that he's POTUS, legacy becomes an important factor. Whether it's too little too late will be for the future to decide.

Despite my rather large hatred for the man for his contributions to the problems of america through his long and corrupt career, I would love to be wrong. Wouldn't it be nice to be four years from now and have to admit I was wrong. I am not holding my breath, nor have any hope for eating my words about him, but unlike the repugs I would gladly eat them to have shitbag joe actually do something to make up for the damage he has done with his miserable existence.

I hope the same for Trump too, but in the end I would say Trump is more likely to do some good based on the fact he is a complete fuck up than Biden turning himself around. At least Trump creates backlash.
