For discussion and (hopefully) consensus on the next round of BNT. My preferences: Same number of sectors, but scrambled instead of linear (instead of 1, 2, 3 as they are laid out now) Xenobes - yes Suborbital fighter attacks - yes 10-20% fewer ports Maximum of 1 EWD per player at any one time Increased planetary population - yes Also think a team called "Colonial Fleet" would be cool, with each ship having a Battlestar name - that was lucky for me this round. IM me if you want to form a team next round with me. That's my preferences, how about the rest of ya?
I think that limiting EWDs to ONE is a bit much, I'd be more comfortable in the 2-5 EWD range. That being said, the Battlestar Mercury is ready to fly.
Don't know if we NEED 5K sectors still...but I certainly wouldn't want to go under say half of that. Still need a little elbow room. Scrambled is fine. 2-3 EWDs should suffice IMO--personally I never used more than one before I could get back to restock'em. Xenobes is fine, I guess. Don't know much about'em. SOFA sounds cool, but how does one actually DO that? Not sure what other parameters there are that can be adjusted, so not sure what else to suggest.
About 2500 sectors should be plenty of room. At least 2 EWDs - otherwise an unlucky player could be killed while offline and jump right into something just as bad (or be tracked down) before they have a chance to do anything about it (sure, there's escape pods, but if you've scrimped and saved to get a decent ship and lose it by randomly jumping into a minefield right after player X attacked you, you've just blown all your savings without anything you could have done to prevent it).
Just so you all know - I'm not ENTIRELY sure what Xenobes are, but based on the other game BNT is based on, they're NPC's who run around the galaxy starting shit like blockading ports and so forth. Don't know if they'll attack planets but will probably attack players on sight. In short, gives the players somebody to fight during the long truces between alliances.
How about cutting up bits of the map in to sectors for the main alliances? Say the UFP or whatever it's called get the first 10 lines from the north and then the next alliance get the next ten and so on.
I don't like that idea--the galaxy is not orderly and neat. Planetary development and conquest occurs wherever it happens.
Nah, all that does it let people know where to look, plus you then need to preassign alliances. If alliances want to organise something like that there is nothing stopping them from negotiating it amongst themselves.
