Holy hell, that's right. Star Ocean: Til the End of Time, bastion of one of the greatest literal anti-heroes ever.
Games besides SimCity for those with ADHD or an infinite number of Sims expansions? Seriously. I'm almost totally sure that the only reason Spore was greenlit in the first place was to placate Will Wright. And, just like with The Sims, it proved to have incredible pre-release buzz and appeal. EA bought up Maxis during development of SimCity 3000, when, unfortunately, cash was running a little low. Quite literally a devil's deal. In point of fact, EA very nearly killed The Sims, which Wright started pitching after the buyout. EA's executives thought that nobody would want to play what was, at the time, being called a "dollhouse simulator." Funny how wrong they can be, huh? I, for one, wonder what the NASA-inspired SimMars would have been like had EA not cancelled it in favor of Simsville, a modern interpretation of fucking SimTown, which they just also cancelled to fire out more Sims expansion packs.
EA does not know how to make games. It just buys the studios that do. Then they develop mod tools so users can improve their game for them.
