My initial instinct was to object, but then I thought, no, Dylan's lyrics have been hugely influential. And, truthfully, how many Nobel Prize in Literature winners can really say that?
Yes. They even mentioned this in the announcement, that it was the first time somebody primarily known as a musician had received the honor.
Has anybody read vol. 1 of his autobiography, Chronicle? It's beautiful, his descriptions of New York City, the Village, and how to be a better songwriter, he was going to have to change himself as a person from the inside out. It was wonderful stuff.
