Okay.....I downloaded Firefox (because AOL hijacked my computer via Explorer 7.0.) So, are "bookmarks" the same as "favorites"?

I'm asking because the Firefox browser doesn't have a "favorites" area but it does have a "bookmarks."

Great! Now I will try to restart my computer to see if AOL + Internet Explorer 7.0 (Satan + Lucifer) are finally put asunder and my files and bookmarks are saved! Wish me luck.....

Okay, to recap: I had to make a new profile because for some reason my original had an error message. Now I can save favorites and files.
    Thanks for advice folks!

When one of the first (was it THE first?) browser came out, which I think was Netscape Navigator, they used "Bookmarks". It was when M$ copied them, they couldn't use the word "bookmarks" because then Netscape could sue them for copyright infringement or something. Netscape was popular until Microsoft came out with Internet Explorer, which they bundled with their operating system, pushing Netscape out of the top spot.

Granted, Internet Explorer was actually the better browser for a long while there, until Firefox came along. It's still debatable which browser is better between Firefox and IE. I generally stick with Firefox because there are less hacks and vulnerabilities to drive-by installs from spyware, viruses, trojans, etc.

But yeah, originally, the word used for 'Favorites' was 'Bookmarks'.
