No. He won because his opponent was a incumbent. The left doesn't understand it and refuses to even acknowledge it but anti-incumbent fever has gripped this nation. You could have run a dead body and it probably would have won.
Uh, no he wasn't, unless you count a county council position as incumbent for the U.S. Senate, in which case nearly 100% of serious Senate candidates would be incumbents. This guy won because no one cared about the election because no Democrat has a chance to win a South Carolina U.S. Senate seat. Vic Rawl didn't really campaign and turnout was minimal, so perfectly legal shenanigans plus randomness were enough to bring about this result.

I believe that nationwide, most incumbents won the recent primary. The general election, of course, may have different results.
It's SC, how could you tell? If this guy is a plant, the state party (R) is seriously wasting it's $10k filing fee. DeMint's seat is probably one of the safest in the country. He could show up at rallies in full Nazi regalia with Jesse James & Helen Thomas in SS outfits & still get 65% of the vote.
