Totally agree! The NPP is a fucking joke anyway. Hell, throw every Taliban/Al Quida leader in there along with every tin-pot dictator too - we did.
That is, if they're not too busy running UN Human Rights commissions or conducting special sessions in Iran on how to treat their women...
Anyone can nominte anyone else so I don't see what the problem is. I mean it's not like he's going to win. If it makes Ward feel better if he tells us his real name we could collectively nominate him for the prize.
The AP notes that "Being nominated doesn’t say anything about a candidate’s chances. A wide range of submissions come in every year from lawmakers, university professors and others with nomination rights, but the decision rests solely with a five-member panel appointed by Norway’s parliament."
The NPP has been given to terrorists and murderers. This is just another killer nominated for it. It has zero credibility anymore.
When did this become so irrelivent? At what point did this prize become just a joke? I'm not denying it is a joke by any stretch of the imagination but I wonder exactly where did it become the laughing stock it has.
If you were asking me, I'd say 1973 when they gave it to Henry Kissinger and then reinforced in 1994 when they gave it to Yasser Arafat.
Tough to say but President Obama getting the nomination a couple days into his presidency and winning the award some eight months later certainly didn't lend credibility to the selection process.
Probably when the nominees started offending you instead of places like South Africa or the USSR. The Nobel Peace Prize has always been about sending a message. You're just less interested in hearing it now.
When did it become a race to the bottom of the credibility barrel a la Time's Man/Person of the Year?
Five member panel from Norway......giving the NPP to our "up and coming" socialist? Why wouldn't this make sense?
The linked wiki thread is quite correct in stating that Mohandas Gandhi never [-]was awarded[/-] won the Nobel Peace Prize. Yeah. Tough to think of a more deserving recipient.
IIRC, Bradley has some bizzare mental issues. I doubt he'll win, like it would mean anything anyways.
