Don't know what the actual collision speed was, but what's unrealistic about it hitting at 9mph? Container ships are massive things and move relatively slowly.

Collision speed was 8.7mph. The ship has a cruising speed of 25mph but obviously would have been restricted to lower speeds in harbour.
