She voted for the Socialist Obama care act. I guess some people are not too happy with that.

A republican ends up dead in a dump, a democrat ends up shot at a rally. Chicago Politics?

If she dies (and the shooter was politically motivated), she'll be a martyr for it.

If the shooting is political, the shooter has done far more damage than she, a single member of Congress, has.

From the article Elwood linked to:
Not good. Not good at all. No matter how I feel about a person's politics, violence such as this is an attack on democracy, not just on a single person.

A dead politician is fine with me. Unfortunately, this will lead to more federal gun control. Can't have our betters at risk from the plebs can we?

I would never advocate such an attack, but attacking someone who supports socialism is an attack on democracy? Democracy is all about freedom of choice, she removed our freedom of choice when she supported Obamacare. Hopefully her kickback from the insurance lobby will help her heal and be up and around in no time.

    Late teens early twenties?

I know damned few in that age that are really politically active much less to the degree this one took.
Wonder what it was about. The immigration bill? Random gang related act?

Suppose we'll find out soon enough.

I'd like to be a fly on Reid's wall right about now....

    This.

We're just now starting to throw off the calls for gun control after the JFK, RFK, and MLK assassinations.

Way to hold off on politicizing this event. Stay classy, garamet!

But since you opened this can, which one of those, had they been different, would have prevented this?

What? I don't give a good goddamn about any dead politician or her hangers on. They have powers over our lives and we're just supposed to take it. So one person finally got fed up and did something about it. Good. If more politicians paid for their bullshit decisions with their lives we'd have less bullshit decisions.

What concerns me is that some politicians will use this as an excuse for draconian gun legislation, the same why they did in 1933 after the Bonus March and in 1968 after the two Kennedys and MLK got wasted.

Yes. No matter how you feel about her politics, she was the choice of those who voted. One person with a gun overruling the choice of the ballot box is an attack on democracy, a way of saying "I will use violence if necessary to prevent people from having the right to vote for someone with whose politics I disagree."

I thoroughly disagree with any and all who support this kind of act. There is no way it is justified or acceptable.

Given that several posters before me have already played the "the only good politician is a dead politician" card, I find your definition of "class" interesting.

Depends on who the gunman turns out to be.

Get it right. I find it lamentable that anyone got shot, but I'm not going to weep over someone who works daily to take away my rights and my property. I'm not going to weep over someone who helps pass legislation that affects my life because of democracy or some other nebulous ideal.

The only bad that comes out of this will be renewed class for federal gun control. Well that and the extra money Arizona will have to spend in a special election.

There are plenty of backwater shitholes and banana republics that agree with you. Perhaps you'd be happier living in one of them.

And when people who are fence-sitters, people who might agree with you on important matters hear that garbage, they don't want to be associated with you. Your passion for your point of view comes through loud and clear, but so does your callousness and willful brutality.
No, we'd have a police state.
Perhaps. But let's save the gun control debate for later, m'kay?

Perhaps this person voted for her and then she went to Washington and did the exact opposite of what she said she would do. I actually think its good every once in a while for one of tho untouchables to get touched as a reality check to all of them that get voted in and go up there and then turn coat. Voting in the other side is not the answer, because they just do the same shit.

The only good that can come out of this is if she got clipped by a cartel. She seems to be big on the border and anti-drug and if they did her, Washington will finally have to deal with Mexico. I'm thinking invade Mexico, kill every single person involved with the drug trade there from Cartel leader to the mules, and be done with the situation.
