BBC is reporting that the Boston PD is bringing in a negotiator. They're trying to wrap this thing up without killing him.

This is where we'll find out with a fair degree of certainty what his motive was, in general if not in specifics.

Because that's their job? Also it helps to figure out why they did it and if they are connected to some radical group they might have leads to help us go higher up the chain. They're likely just self radicalized though since the guy grew up in the US though maybe the older brother influenced him.
