^The supply-to-demand ratio is too uneven. For every one of us that gives up, there are a hundred other masochists willing to take our place.

Looking forward to this. I like to see backstories fleshed out. There's just so much of that out there a broke man can't keep up. I always wanted to write a series of Kirk stories that took him from the acadamy right up through the ranks in sort of a "Hornblower" fashion...but i figure someone somewhere has already done enough Kirk stories that there's no room left for that sort of thing (not that I'm that good anyway).

I wonder though, is there anything out there that gives Sisko the sort of treatment you give Pike here?

If not maybe you need to angle for that job next assuming they like the Pike book?

^Interesting idea. Verrry interesting idea. I haven't read all the DS9 Relaunch books, so I'm not sure if another writer has done this yet, though I imagine bits and pieces of Sisko's backstory have been filled in. One of my favorite things about the show was how much of his personal life we got to see.

But things at Pocket are handed out on a fairly strict schedule these days, now that TPTB at Paramount/CBS or whatever they're calling themselves have ordered the number of books per year cut back drastically.

A bunch of us are currently working on a series of six ebooks following a single plot-line pretty much through Kirk's entire career. Can't say much more about it than that (though KRAD has a thread about it in the TrekLit forum on TBBS), but that's my assignment for this year. After that, depending on how well Burning Dreams is received, I can probably wangle something new.
