I initially asked this because I thought the official line with McMartin was that the tunnels never existed.
IMO, the midterms were the result of the left wing mainstream medias 24/7 anti Trump campaign. But by the time the Mueller report came out, disemboweling the notion of a Trump/Russia conspiracy, it was too late. The damage had already been done. Point being, the midterm sweep was hardly a mandate or trend....but more of an ill gotten gain from a massive propaganda campaign. And hopefully the American voters will have taken note of the deceit and wised up.

Add the 2019 elections. Dems win in Kentucky. Dems take both houses in Virginia for the first time in 26 years. (This will be important for 2020 redistricting.) This is the 8th statehouse that has flipped to the Ds since Trump was elected. (See above, important for redistricting.) Mississippi, MISSISSIPPI! Rs lead by single digits. If the trends of the last 3 years continue then 2020 should be great for Ds. Not just at the top of the ballot but almost as importantly at the state level. Yes, I’m hitting it again, 2020 redistricting is huge. Unless Republicans can learn to win in the suburbs then the 2020s could be the Dems decade.
Fun fact, at this point Millennials are voting in higher numbers than previous generations did at their age. on that note Dems actually are mounting a major 2020 state level race challenge unlike what they did in 2010. I guess they are capable of learning for absolutely massive past mistakes which cost them a decade due to Republican gerrymandering. That said, I am willing to bet most of those state level and local candidates will be running towards the center instead of being “woke” extremists whom everyone disposes and whom no one trusts. If they do go woke then they won’t hold those seats long.
That sounds like you are hoping for their policies to blow up on them and destroy things. Problem is if they do get their way we will all see an increase in prosperity and society. I am sure you will be complaining all the way when you have them to thank for a better life for your children and their children, along with better overall care for you in your dying years. Of course, they could lose and your family wealth could be stripped away more for the trump kids while you rot in substandard care that your family has to weaken themselves to provide for you.
was I doing better under Obama than Trump? Were most average working class Americans better off? Money aside was "society" any better? It depends on how you spin the statistics but statistics aside there was no significant difference between the two regimes or any regimes in my lifetime. This is what motivates my voting in 2020. Most people vote for the person that will affect them and their family, their main priority. Nice to help society in general but that's a lofty goal compared to keeping your family safe & solvent - that's what pulls the handle on election day for the majority of people. Trump...Obama...Carter...Superman if he runs - no one person can ever fuck things up or create a utopia by themselves because of the way our government is set up. It's a complicated and often wasteful system but damn the whole "checks and balances" and three branches has worked out as good as any form of government so far.
