I've had difficulty for years sleeping through the night. I've tried drinking chamomile tea, got myself a weighted blanket, but none of those help much. A dose of liquid melatonin before bed helps more, but I hate being dependent on something like that.

of the various ingredients in non-prescription sleeping pills only diphenhydramine hydrochloride works for me. Okay I'll be honest here - WTF is a "weighted blanket"?

Just what it says on the tin. A blanket with heavy material built in, so that it feels like something is holding you. The idea is to make your body think it's being hugged, which studies have shown can profoundly relax some folks.

Awake since 3am. 3 hours sleep. Going to work now. It's 5:20.

@spot261 will have his reply in that other thread it's just gonna be astronomically long.

And of course since this is the most tired I've been in weeks, this will be "lift-12-metric-tons-of-steel" day.

This is just pure bragging so you should probably ignore this, but hey I have a video.

No sleep as usual. Well, 3 hrs tonight. But today I did a job. Inherited the program 1 year ago from my then-coworker.

Back then, machining one piece took six minutes.

Just a very, very big screw.

    For mining installations at Sandvik.

For reference the tool is 80mm in diameter. (Adore that face mill. It's Superman.)

The dividing apparatus is shifty. Old. So it causes some delays that can't be helped.

Normally speaking this is the type of job you'd do from start to finish in a lathe (with rotating tools), but given the workpiece size, thing is mills are just... eh, better at milling. More stable.

I'm not a good sleeper. For me it's all about routine - if I get into a good one where I go to bed at the same time, don't eat too late & don't get woken up by family members, I can gradually improve my sleep quality and get a good night most nights. But if I'm in a bad routine, I wake several times per night, feel tired and it can take weeks to improve.

one reason I'm glad I'm a military vet - like most vets I have the ability to sleep anywhere, anytime even in the lack of any semblance of a routine or schedule. In theory the military is all about "routine" except when it's not of course, and quite often it's routinely nonroutine. :unuts:

wow you have a cool job! I don't work with metal & heat & powerful machinery - a soldering gun is my most lethal tool.

    I can sleep literally anywhere.

Except next to my wife when she gets restless legs.

my wife keeps claiming that I am rolling around and bumping into her, hurting her often sore (bursitis maybe?) shoulder. I tried to explain that if I am sleeping I can't control what I am doing!

    No, it's your fault!

You'd be surprised how often my less tolerant posts in here are done in the wee hours when I've given up trying and gone to sleep/sulk on the sofa!

I just realized - Fruitloop's avatar bears a strong resemblance to the Born In The USA album! Feel free to "no shit Sherlock" me if you feel the need.

just realized also that Bruce's ass looks flabby. Hard to tell though from the picture.

    Okay... Some minor victory here.

After explaining things to my psychiatrist he agreed to prescribe exactly the sleeping pill I wanted. Halcion, very rare. Needed special license. Also I have new glasses which may help alleviate some stress on my eyes.

At least I don't think I look tired.

    ... do I? I do, don't I.

So glad you got something that works for you! Are you able to stay asleep? Triazolam is the best for me when I have any sort of dental procedure cause I’m such a fucking pussy about people messing with my teeth and the amnesia is a must, but it’s very short acting. I’ve heard it’s great for falling asleep but less good for staying asleep. At any rate, glad you’ve finally found some relief! :backhug:

I may have mentioned this already but diphenhydramine hydrochloride works great for me - it puts me to sleep quickly and I stay asleep for the night's duration.
Any sleeping pills with doxylamine succinate however don't work well for me at all.

Today I woke up, slipped on the floor after taking a bath and fucked myself up.

Then I went to work and fucked my machine up.

It's been a fucked up day.
