Twenty years ago I looked ahead and wanted to be this guy, in retrospect. Make a bunch of money without compromising my own terms too much, retire at middle age, give the finger to my enemies (or play bongo on Mr. Burns' head), and then explore life and ideas while funded by a sort of trust fund. The publicly released "goodbye" note of Andrew Lahde. Bolded a few sections for those who bore easily. I've been meaning to post this for a few weeks, now, but kept getting sidetracked. I think quite a few of you will get a kick out of it. The guy walked away after his very big bets against the survival of subprime investments (opposite the big brains at places like Lehman Bros) proved correct. He may become a sort of folk hero, but more likely will promptly be forgotten.
Re: Capitalist Star Makes Millions in Subprime; Indicts Congress; Retires to Smoke Po Wait... that guys says he has enough money? Wow. I didn't think I'd see the day.
Re: Capitalist Star Makes Millions in Subprime; Indicts Congress; Retires to Smoke Po agree totally. I don't smoke pot myself, but alcohol + tobacco cause untold pain, misery and death around the world, and they are part of our legitimate economy! It's like being "oil dependent" IMO. Why put money into the hands of our enemies when we have our own supply that we are unwilling to tap into? Allow people to grow it for personal consumption. But then of course it would be for personal consumption, because who would buy it when you can just grow your own? I tell you what....if Obama can pull this off (legalize marijuana and put drunk drivers/wife beaters in prison forever) I will have his baby!
Re: Capitalist Star Makes Millions in Subprime; Indicts Congress; Retires to Smoke Po I found my new sig!
