After the last few Chucky movies a couple of years ago and then the Dourif-less reboot, I figured that was it for our favorite little doll posesed by a psychopathic betazed. I am intrigued.
If we go by the TV series based on cult slasher franchises one thing we will never see in the series is chucky.
Freddy's Nightmares had a handful of Freddy-centric episodes. Bates Motel had Norman all throughout. Only "Friday The 13th The Series", left out Jason, and "Poltergeist: The Legacy", never mentioned Tangina or Carol-Anne. Friday always teased having Jason's mask be a cursed item, but they always chickened out on it. The guy who played Ryan was in "Jason Goes To Hell", as another character. That's as much as they crossed.
I was always quite dissapointed in the TV series spinoffs. The friday the 13th series had nothing to do with slashers at all. It was more like a detective story of tales from the darkside. The nightmare on elmstreet series was so far away from freddie it completely lost my interest. I had even forgotten about the poltergeist series. I get it is a bit hard to make a series about a slasher movie based on the episodic MOTD theme when you only have one monster. Maybe they could do something with chucky if they went by an arc over a season rather than individual episodes, but half the plot of chucky, or any of these slasher movies, is coming to the conclusion of who the slasher is. Each one has the victims slowly becoming aware of the slasher in the movies, and then the climax. If they could make an arc around that then it might be worth a binge watch, but then the whole thing might become too long if you do not have enough characters to kill off. The only thing I could say about chucky is he might make a good cryptkeeper type narrator for a series of tales from the darkside type episodes, but then why not just bring back tales from the crypt? Chucky does talk and make fun comments.
