I thought for awhile now that all Admins were full Admins and all mods were full Supermods for ease of dealing with issues all over the board and at all times. Yes, O2C and Defender are designated Tech Admins, but that is because they are the ones qualified to deal with the technical stuff and do the heavy lifting of fixing and upgrading and coding things. I did not think that meant that they were not to deal with other board issues when they come up. I was under the impression that that set up went away quite awhile ago, but I am seeing a lot of posters trying to throw that out there again. So I was hoping you could clarify the current policy, Lanzman, since I'm not 100% certain on it.
Let's be honest, nobody cares when O2C makes a moderating call. This is about The Defender. More than a few members don't trust his judgment beyond dealing with technical issues. Deeming him authorized to moderate will do nothing to change that perception, or defuse the situation. Most likely it would only add fuel to another staff generated fire.
Unfortunately, Clyde is right. Nick, I need you to not moderate unless it's something severe and immediate.
Understandable, not like I enjoy babysitting anyways. However, in cases of what happened last night, where someone's user permissions were messed up, would you consider that moderating, or technical work?
Depends on the circumstances. We were debating letting Tas back in or not. If it was a straight-up permissions thing (hey, I'm registered and everything but can't sign in) then that's clearly within your bailiwick.
I agree in theory, but most of these people who don't trust my judgment are the same ones who don't trust anyone. Who has been complaining the most about me? Volpone, $corp, Zombie, Muad Dib. Zombie just got banned, both Muad Dib and Volpone have both been warned in the last week for going overboard on rep, and $corp keeps confusing me with Kyle.
It's the rep warriors still pissed that they can't harass people via rep anymore and are trying to make an issue about anything and everything in an attempt to blackmail Lanzman into reversing the decision. Plus, Muad was very busy for awhile repping TheLonleySquire trying to bring him into the green as an example of how horrible it is not to be able to drive folks into the red anymore. Nick resetting everyone made that moot as well. Hence, pissyfits.
