Saw the first two eps on Cartoon Network. So far, not bad. Interesting how the series is attempting to humanize the clones. They think "we're just clones, so we're expendable" but Yoda tells then they are unique in the force.
Yeah, I watched it Friday night. Not bad at all. There were a few cheesy moments, but overall, not bad.
Meh, it was pretty good. Agree with Bulldog, liked the humanizing moments with the clones. Little touches like that. The rest was saturday morning stuff. Like Maud said, cheesey in spots, but not bad. Buuut, eh, don't think I'll keep up with it. I'm Star Wars-ed out. Let the young kids have it.
Fucking hell, I missed it again! I told my kids I'd tape it, and I missed it Friday and couldn't find on line *anything* about it being repeated.
Yeah, I have been busy. But TV guide says they will air one more time on Wednesday night. That, actually, would explain why my 8yo told me last week to be sure and catch it on Wednesday... Shiny. (I really need to buy a DVD burner for my PC...a cheap one...)
Is this a re-airing of the original Clone Wars shorts, an airing of the movie as shorts, something new based on the movie, or something else entirely?
I didn't see the movie but these first two episodes weren't bad at all. They weren't all that exciting either, but at least they weren't completely offensive. I've read elsewhere that these two episodes are a big step up from the movie, which was universally loathed. Maybe this sort of thing works better in this format. Or maybe Lucas wasn't as involved in writing the thing. Either way, I'll keep watching this for now. Not much else on TV anyway.
I was burned badly on the PT's...they almost ruined the Holy Trilogy for me...but my kids want me to record this since there mom doesn't have cable, so I will, and I will try to enjoy them. Still, I want to go off on a Simon Pegg style "YOU WEREN'T THERE!! YOU DIDN'T KNOW HOW GOOD IT WAS!!!" rant on them...
DVR, you fucking luddites.... I found it to be decent, accepted for what it was. Didn't expect much anyway. Check it out only if you can stand a big, expensive presentation for something that is pretty light on plot.
Third episode on today. "Shadow Of Malevolence" Not bad at all. Anakin leads a wing of clonetrooper pilots on an assault to take out Grevious's new ion weapon. One of the better space battles since the original trilogy. And they actually do a better job with Anakin than the live action movies. This must mean Lucas does not have a lot to do with the series... Anakin definitely shows more noble qualities in this episode. He is shown to be a capable leader and brave to a fault... but also slightly arrogant. This series could definitely get interesting if we actually get to see him grow up but also take on some darker qualities. Chronologically, this series seems to take place between volume I and volume II of the cel based Clone Wars animated series. Anakin became a knight at the end of volume I and General Grievous was introduced. This series must take place sometime in the middle of the war... In the next episode I think we will get a showdown between Anakin and Grievous... something we never actually saw in the Episode III.
I'm surprised Anakin has a padawan though. You didn't get that impression in Ep III. He was put on the Jedi Council by Palpatine but they wouldn't make him a master. Where did he get a padawan? And why is he called Master?
I think his padawan will die at some point during the series... this will no doubt unhinge him further. But I think you don't have to be an actual 'Jedi Master' to to take on a padawan. Jedi Knights can take on padawans. However they are still addressed as master as a sign of respect. In Episode II Obi-Wan was not yet a Jedi Master but still had a padawan. In the expanded fiction, Luke Skywalker eventually attains the rank of Jedi Grandmaster or something like that... For that matter, I don't think Qui-Gon Jinn was a Jedi Master either. Just a Knight.
The main reason Jinn wasn't a master is because he wouldn't keep his mouth shut and was too independent. That's the impression I got in Episode I.
