And he's WHITE! In your face all you motherfuckers who say I never report when white people do crazy criminal shit. You can kiss both sides of my white ass. Don't be afraid to slip me the tongue either bitches.

That aside.....the Coast Guard? Are they ever in the news doing criminal type things? They are the smallest branch, maybe that's why. Or maybe they are all.....white & nerdy as Weird Al sings.

Is it just me or would this be @Dayton3 if he had a stockpile of weapons? Maybe not all the white nationalist catch phrases, but the general lack of respect for life and desire to do violence and kill people? Has Dayton ever openly fantasized about making a biological weapon and releasing it to kill all of us heathens? It just sounds like something he would have done.

and just for the sake of honesty, I have often wished for a meteor to take out the world. Hell, during the days of the deepwater horizon I actually fantasized about the methane with the oil blowing up and sending a poisonous gas cloud killing the people on the coast and a huge tidal wave wiping out Floriduh. I probably would have seen the wave first person living on the coast near mobile AL. Not to mention I noticed while watching the live stream from the underwater cameras that the cap looked a lot like a white horse with the oil occasionally looking like a black rider. I even had a picture that captured it really well.

Actually, no. @Dayton3 has a general dislike of weapons, and I doubt he wants to kill us all. Simply bending us to his code of morality would be sufficient :diacanu:

A lot of people wish violence upon the world. But when they actually formulate a plan and acquire the means to carry out mass violence? Lock them up & throw away the key!

Actually doing something about the fantasies is a crime. This is why we should throw Wil Wheaton for building a tractor device in the first season of TNG. That and becoming a god.

Okay, just to prove that I am an "equal opportunity skeptic" some things in the story just don't add up. :chris:Sorry but as a military person a couple of red flags popped right up. That said I hope Marso or Anc or anyone with some military experience can help me out here. All the military branches do things differently so I might be over-thinking this. Anyway here we go:

    1) the guy was 49 yeas old and a lieutenant. :chris: I had to google it, but a Coast Guard lieutenant is grade O-3. That equates to a captain in the army or air force. A typical age for an army captain would be 29. So how the fuck was he still in the coast guard as a 49 year old O-3? As a point of reference when I retired at age 43 I was the second oldest guy in my company.

    2) the guy was keeping synthetic urine in case his number came up for a piss test. :chris:I don't know how the coast guard conducts their piss tests, but in the army you piss in front of an observer.
You are wearing PT shorts (plain exercise shorts) and underwear. You have to pull down your shorts & underwear and the observer watches the stream of urine exiting your dick and going into the bottle. Then the bottle is sealed up with tamper proof tape, yada yada yada. So unless you had synthetic urine IN YOUR BLADDER just before you pissed into the bottle, your ruse would not work. I can't believe that after all these years in the military he wouldn't know how piss tests are administrated. And generally (in the army anyway) you can expect to take about a half dozen or so in a year's time, and they are random as hell.

So he is lazy. Are you saying it is impossible to be lazy and not proceed through the ranks, or get demoted or passed up for advancement? Maybe he did not join right out of high school?
He was a trump supporter so perhaps he had the piss to make a piss tape? Maybe he got off on it just like trump? Golden showers is a thing.

Have you really thought this conspiracy through, and why is it that now you are trying to make excuses for the white guy who is a self proclaimed white supremacist? Do you make threads about black people doing crimes and then try to say it is all a conspiracy?

The Coast Guard operates under DHS, so that could affect how their promotion system functions.

Being a much smaller force than the Navy, Air Force, Army, or even Marines means there are far fewer billets for a given rank than those other outfits, meaning promotion comes slower (read some history about how slow promotions came in the pre-WWII and pre-WWI Army for an idea of how that happens when there are fewer slots available).

He could've been a Mustang, promoted from the ranks after a long time as an enlisted man.

well Tererun in the military you have to proceed through the ranks or they kick you out. In other words you do not have the option of staying at a lower rank for too long. It's called "up or out".
That's why I asked if any other military could help me out with how things work in the other branches of the military.

And if you read the article it said he was saving the piss for piss tests because he was planning on taking drugs to assist in his killing spree.

And I do not think this is a conspiracy - I merely have questions. Obviously the short article can't provide every detail. And I am not making excuses for him in any way shape or form.
What really intrigues me is how could this nut have been this deep into.....whatever the hell weird shit he believes in.....and remain totally off the radar? :chris: There have to be some people that are aware of what a threat this guy is.

When Major Assad shot up the joint at Fort Hood we found out (after the fact of course) that his fellow officers were well aware of his militant political anti-american ideals and told their superiors who of course ignored them. Nobody wanted to risk their careers by picking on a muslim - muslims are a minority in the army. So it was "politics as usual" that set the stage for Assad to go ape-shit and kill his comrades.

he have that in the army too, going enlisted to officer. But there's generally an age cutoff for that. And I was shocked to find out (during the recent shutdown) that the coast guard was under DHS!
Yes that could very well mean they have a whole different set of rules than the rest of the military.

And call me crazy but I'm guessing (and I hope I'm wrong!) that this guy is just one of a group of whack-a-loons that are in on this. :(

The standards for becoming an officer are far higher than that of an enlisted recruit. While it's possible to get promoted as an enlisted after a non-judicial punishment (each branch calls it something different but it's basically military punishment that's not court martial), such a thing is enough to end an officer's career.

Like was pointed out, there are older officer who get commissioned after they've been in the enlisted ranks but there's an upper age limit to that so they can get some mileage. But then, that's for the Navy. The CG may operate differently and be in greater need of bodies.

I don't think he was going for a conspiracy here, only pointing out some things don't suss out.

I only ever had one observer duck out of watching me pee, cuz she was a lazy ass gimlet herself who fucked the master cheif on board, so she wasn't seeing NJP for anything. :borg:

49 is a bit long in the tooth for a barely field grad officer, so your eyebrows going up is quite understandable. As I understand it this guy had prior service in the USMC (I think it was 8 years, but not sure) and several years in the National Guard. Given what this guy was up to it certainly raises other questions, but I think his age is properly accounted for.

It could also depend on his job. I've known several Chaplains, Doctors, Nurses, Lawyers, and Weather Weenie types that retired at O4/O5 because there just aren't a whole lot of O6+ billets for those jobs.

I'll be interested to read the final report on this one, but the bottom line is that this guy is one of those 'home-grown' types who was almost pre-destined to get caught before he pulled off any major crimes. I'm going to predict here and now that his own colleagues/co-workers were a big part of LE breaking the case before any real damage was done.

There are other reasons I mentioned aside from being lazy. You still have not made a good case aside from he might not be normal, which I think a person collecting weapons to kill every human on the planet is pretty much obviously not normal.
That does not seem terribly odd to me. If he had some experience with drugs he might be aware certain drugs can help you avoid the pain of physical injuries, and might even help increase some reaction time. The problem is you would need to be used to the effects to be able to counter perceptual variances that would effect your aim and senses.
What are you implying by something is out of place? It seems his guilt is the only thing to really be questioning.
When I did my crime no one had a clue. I did not go out and tell anyone what I was doing. I did not go looking online or asking a whole bunch of questions. If he was hanging out with a whole bunch of people like him online they are not going to rat him out. Think about your co workers. How many of them could be buying weapons and writing crazy rants without your knowledge. Think of rules like WF has. Imagine if this guy was on websites where doxxing and going after someone IRL gets you banned. He could be obviously unbalanced around here and no one would do anything but potentially ban him. Go over to politicalforums and take a look at some of the right wing loonie over there and tell me you could not see some of them collecting guns and planning to kill a bunch of people. You would get banned for going after them IRL.

Terrorists of all sorts rant every day on the internet and the authorities are finite and limited by legal restrictions on their efforts. That is not to mention all the people who chase down non signs of trouble. OMG we have to stop the trannies from going into the little girls room despite the reality we give our kids to priests who are far more likely to rape them than any transexual. We are talking about white privilege. He is white, therefor he is under control and not dangerous, according to many people. Ted Bundy used it to his advantage and look how many he killed while he was overlooked by people who judged him based on his skin color and appearance.
Far more often the white person gets overlooked because they are considered less likely to do these things, even though they are the largest number of domestic terrorists we have. It is called white privilege, and it probably works a lot more for criminals today than for your regular people.

oh good point! Yes people in critically short job fields will be granted waivers. At one time the army was critically short of....wait for it....oboe players! Damn how could our army not pay attention to our oboe player manning strength! What if Russia would have attacked us when we were so weak? Shudder to think! BTW I hear Russia trains it's soldiers to pick up a dead comrades oboe and keep playing if they drop dead in combat - could be misinformation though. I can't remember from the article, but did it mention his job specialty?

"I only ever had one observer duck out of watching me pee, cuz she was a lazy ass gimlet herself who fucked the master cheif on board, so she wasn't seeing NJP for anything." - Shirogayne

Damn! Yes if you the observer shirk your duties (you sign a statement every time you have to pull observer duty saying that you will be prosecuted for shenanigans) you are toast. It's quite often worse for you than for the pisser coming up hot!

I only heard of this kind of thing (sort of) one time when our unit's drug & alcohol NCO in Germany was doing drugs himself. He would make sure his buddies and himself got their samples lost or otherwise compromised so that they wouldn't come up hot. Eventually he was caught and sent to prison then booted out.
