So, Evenflow's comment about seeing Pearl Jam a blue billion times got me to thinking: What concerts have you all seen? Were they good? I'd love to know!

    Concerts I've been to:

AC/DC (Ft. lauderdale) - My first-ever rock concert, went with three friends. It was, in a word, awesome, and the gold standard by which I measure all other concerts. You just can't beat Brian Johnson swinging from a gigantic bell during "Hells Bells"

Dave Matthews Band (Ft. Lauderdale) - I'd heard he puts on an amazing show, but it seemed pretty bland to me, honestly.

Green Day (Indianapolis) - Another disappointment. A big one. I loved Green Day back in middle and high school. When I went to see them in 2004, though, about half their songs were off their newest album, which was mostly emo shit. And it didn't help that most of the kids there were 12-year-old girls who just thought the lead singer was hot. Sigh. So sad.

Ozzfest 2005 (Indianapolis) - My first big concert festival. Ozzfest has declined in the past few years, of course, but this year had Iron Maiden. Iron Freaking Maiden. And Rob Zombie on the second stage. Pretty fun, except the sound system for the main stage was acting screwy that night and the vocals sounded washed-out.

Alice Cooper (Indianapolis) - Awesome concert, simply awesome. Best of all? No shitty opening acts. Absolutely great.

Pearl Jam (Chicago) - Took a day trip with my fiancee to see this one. I love Chicago, but Pearl Jam was best of all. And it was a LONG concert. We actually had to leave a little early cause it was already close to midnight and we had a 3-hour drive. I actually ended up having to pull over and take a nap halfway there, but it was soooo worth it.

Nine Inch Nails (Indianapolis) - Second only to AC/DC for awesomeness. Trent Reznor puts on a hell of a show, and NIN's always been one of my favorite bands.

Ozzfest 2006 (Indianapolis) - Much better than 2005. Lacuna Coil, System of a Down, and Disturbed were the big draws for me. Lots fun moshing around in the lawn for Hatebreed, too.

X-Fest 2006 (Indianapolis) - Local radio music festival. Mostly went for Buckcherry (Another favorite of mine), but Rob Zombie also put on one hell of a show (And he remains the only band I've seen more than once).

Marilyn Manson (Miami) - My most recent concert. Much better than I anticipated, actually, he put on a really good show. And no weird puppy-killing nonsense, either, just lights, fog, and good music. There were Christian protesters outside for it, though, and that just made the evening even more fun.

Okay, so now tell me your experiences!

    Too many to list here.

Without thinking about it too much, though, probably the best was Lenny Kravitz. That's show fucking rocked!

    Hmmmmm... the highlights.

Tenacious D: The most fun at a show ever, two fat white guys with acoustic guitars rocked my fuckin socks off.

Pearl Jam: Great shows. Of course they were all different when considered over a near ten year timespan. The first one I caught was in '93. My last run was three consecutive shows in '03. The last few shows saw me no more than five rows back, and front row center twice.

Metallica: My first concert, followed by two more after that. Master Of Puppets live is divine experience.

Nine Inch Nails: A good show, though I remember the opening acts, Marylin Manson, and The Jim Rose Circus Sideshow (:techman:) more.

Others include Ozzy, Alice N Chains (openign act, never headline :( ), The Flaming Lips, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Hank Jr.

Yes, he played at the college there (I was in the Air Force at the time.)
Why way up in Fairbanks? Did he lose a bet or what?
The mind boggles, but it was a sold out show, and I really had a good time.

Oddest show was Danny and The Juniors (At the Hop, Rock and Roll is Here to Stay) at RAF Lakenheath, England.

Deftones: Hands down best concert of 2007. Excellent mix of old and new songs. Nailed it out of the park encoring with Back To School and Change (In The House of Flies).

Saliva/Papa Roach: Most surprising. I was expecting them to half-ass it given the shit venue but both bands threw a great show.

Adema: Did an acceptable show though they're obviously only in it for the money now.

HIM: Surprisingly poor. Strange choice of an opening act (death metal), disappointing set list, weird ass audience, no encore, and security were a bunch of dicks.

Tool: Best fucking show ever. The visuals, the staging, the music. Fucking great.

Green Day/Jimmy Eat World: Wasn't too bad, though could have used more JEW opening. Too many 14 year olds though. I could see them all from the upper deck back row.

Seether/Smile Empty Soul/Trapt: Seether was great, trapt totally lame, and Smile was kinda rough. Price was right though - free and free beer.
