we contractors weren't affected, but one division of GS instructors was furloughed ( I guess) but the division down the street from them still has their GS instructors.

Heard from the office. One positive case in a closed area. Everyone in the closed area has been told to stay home and get tested, the area was nuked clean, and anyone who signed in the guest book for the last several months contacted.

My fence guys showed up and did a fine job.

My wife is going to brave the local markets tomorrow for some intermediate supplies.

Someone on the town FB group says people shopping at said local markets are taking their vinyl gloves off afterward and trowing them down in the parking lot. Fucking savages.

Been working from home for over a week. I have a sweet 3 monitor setup where the 3rd monitor is just an old TV.

The pets love us working from home. The dog walker refuses to come in the house, and will only grab our dog from the yard.

Can't seem to buy chicken in a grocery store anymore. But I have a ton of frozen pizzas for some reason.

It's gonna be in the high 70s next week, so I might get to swim in my pool.

Also a lot of people are going to die, possibly myself or those close to me.

My 401k has taken a massive shit.

I have 200 lemons and 600 oranges to pick, but my God it's so tedious.

We managed to get my 401 rolled over into a savings account in the nick of time (without even knowing it was the nick of time), so it seems fine. My wife's Vanguard account, however, took a 30% hit  It seems to be creeping back up, tho.

My commute is way faster now! Also fewer people in the grocery store when I'm there because the work-from-home or unemployed aren't shopping on their way home. There was no ground beef but there was ground turkey and ground pork, which I needed so that worked out well.

Wife did a supply run, and got everything except vitamins and paper products (we have enough TP, but we need tissues for nose-blowing). There seems to be meat and frozen foods. I don't understand why people are still hoarding TP - surely they haven't used up the three carts full they bought just two weeks ago. :jeriko:

that lack of tissues is nothing to sneeze at!
Side-note that lack of TP has nothing to do with my promoting Ex-Lax as a little known but effective virus cure!

about an hour ago I encountered something new - not being able to walk the fuck into Home Depot like I own the joint! :brood: My local store has a 100 customer capacity limit. Thus you get in line and you wait. When a customer leaves, another customer gets to enter. There were about thirty or forty people ahead of me. I got out of line after about a minute and went home. I think I chose wisely considering they may not even have what I needed anyway.

The irritation is normal. It is what nicotine does. Plus the steady input of nicotine is not the way you are used to getting it. Smoking and the gum give you an immediate burst. That is why I always found the patch to be terrible for reducing the urge to kill while quitting.

Almost nothing. I work for a food supplier, so most days I get up and go to work. Though we were supposed to be off this week, but thanks to all the panic buying we got to work. The only real difference is that I can't go out to eat anywhere since all the restaurants are closed, "to go," or drive-thru only now.

Update: about 2 dozen of those lemons and oranges have been converted into lemon bars and orange bars.

When life gives you lemons, eat as many of them as possible so the vitamin C helps your immune system fight off the coronavirus.

Almost all of the staff at my job are working remotely. There are, at most, 10-11 people in the office compared to the usual 30-40 and most of the day today there were only six or seven of us.

Traffic on my commute is negligible. Like Thanksgiving or Christmas Day traffic. It's never bad on my morning commute because my shift starts later than most other jobs in the city, but the after work drive is considerably faster.

I feel ya there. Mine actually peaked about a week ago and then my system said "heck this" and now I am kind of just numb to everything.

I keep waiting for that. It has happened before in stressful times where after a while the body/mind just adjusts to the new “normal”. For some reason, it hasn’t happened yet. I can’t wait...I think a real night’s sleep would do wonders.

And after being at work for two days, as of Monday I'm ordered to work from home as I'm not essential enough to be in the office. Oh well, shit that don't get done just won't get done.

I know it's hard given lockdowns and the need to socialise, but maybe try avoiding the web (aside from sites you know won't have COVID news or politics) and news for 24 hours and do stuff that distracts you. I don't know if you are having to work, but outside that stay away from the doom and gloom and DL a cheesy movie you love, or listen to music. It's very easy to get locked into listening to the latest updates and feel like it's all spiralling.

I know this is hard if you have friends/family in risk groups or that you can't see right now.
