The stores around me have everything in stock expect TP and sanitizer, and they have been that way for at least a week.

Spitting, coughing, sneezing, shouting, singing, or otherwise expelling air (and other things...) forcefully.

Which means the safest thing is to stay at least twice that far away, and avoid places (like choir practice in Seattle...) where such things are likely to happen.

Or, you can be like me and go through self-checkout and use your own bags, cuz they won't stop you there

....I mean, I get the logic, cuz people are decidedly lax on cleaning the cloth ones even on a good day. A former co-worker of mine mentioned she opened one with a "pet surprise" in it.

The first time I really noticed this sort of quiet was 2001 9/11 because all the air traffic was downed. I noticed it again down here near all the airportrs from west palm (AKA twitler international) and miami. The big jets just are not in the air like they were, if at all, and it is quiet. It is a quiet like on the farm in AL.

The curfews seem to be starting up around here. I still do not get them. I am a master social distancer and 3 in the morning is prime time to not run into anyone. Even now there is no one out in the middle of the night because most of the people cannot drive in the dark. It has pissed me off that Walmart shut down for customers after midnight.

Before anyone goes to the disinfection thing, that is useless after an hour of the elderly wandering through the store in the morning. It also crams more people into the aisles and check out lines during operational hours. I can make my shopping trip in the middle of the night and then stay way out of the way of the people who cannot. I could not spit on someone if I wanted to in the middle of the night. Everything I pick up goes home with me. I will even wear a mask and gloves to protect the sterilized goods.

Curiosity made me check flightradar.com to see what air traffic is like. Typically it looks like this, more or less on any given day.



This is the air traffic now, it's considerably less over the Atlantic now, and about 1/3 to 1/2 of normal over the US.

Virginia is now at "stay at home" status until June. I was until April 23rd.

I came to Vietnam three weeks ago, as it was one of the last comfortable places to go with a low cost of living to wait out the storm. At that time there were fewer than 70 active cases. But restrictions have increased since then and as of tomorrow, there will be a stay-at-home order for two weeks.

I've been floating around for months, trying to maintain my freedom, but I have finally run out of road.

For the people who think prison is not so bad, try to imagine a few things getting worse.

Imagine if you could only get mail and the occasional phone call or visit from others. Imagine if you cannot go out walking when you want. We got an e-mail like that once sent to "contact" at our church website. An address that no one uses for anything other than receiving incoming messages. They are just sent out to all the e-mail addresses they can get, hoping that guilty people will be afraid and send them money. They know very well that only one person in a thousand (if that) will do so, but the few who do already bring in quite a few thousand dollars.

Si, Street View of a friend's house has had the same picture of his wife mowing the lawn for a couple of years. She's not happy about it. We think it's hysterical.

Just got word that there are three cases at my former employer, and one 60-year-old man died. I didn't recognize the name. They closed off and sanitized the area he worked in. Not the whole building, mind you.

The Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market I shop at had toilet paper this morning...just a few rolls, but the first I've seen in weeks. There was also a small supply of hand soap. Not a lot of people in the store and everyone seemed to make an effort to keep some distance.

Finally found toilet paper, it only took three weeks.

Only place near me that has TP is 7-eleven. Individual rolls, but still it's more than the supermarkets have.

Ducked into CVS yesterday and there was a line of people dutifully standing six feet apart, but it ran the full length of one aisle and half of another, past the liquor department. Turns out it wasn't people waiting to buy booze, but paper towels -!

I went to Walmart. When I first got there all they had was generic brand paper towels. I went to check out and they announced that toilet paper was in stock so I got in line to get some. One lady got three packs of 24 rolls. Get fucked. Another woman got two. Fuck you too, bitch. I got one pack of 12 which should last for a few more weeks. Unbelievable. Just take what you need assholes and stop hording. Then on the way back home there's hardly any traffic, but that doesn't stop people from still being idiots. The asteroid can't come soon enough.

^Stores need to limit the amount one customer can buy at a time.

Every store here, and I mean EVERY store, has a strict "one paper item per customer" rule in place. Still haven't seen toilet paper or paper towels in over two weeks.

I haven't had to buy gas in going on three weeks.

Just got an email yesterday from my main job that someone in another depart has it. Their last day of work was March 18th, which is a hella long ass wait to tell people

some stores do - some don't.
