Well, back in the day, WF was intended to be more of a creative arts board, not a "Red Room and, oh yeah, the other stuff too" board, so after the exodus, garamet was promptly offered and accepted a moderatorship of the Workshop as Margaret Wander Bonanno, Professional Writer, so if anything, the "public figure" status was quickly and willingly reaffirmed.

My point is, she didn't come on here and say oh, by the way, I'm Margaret ... whoever and I'm a professional writer - so la de dah. It was just a fact that was brought over from the other board. So, although she could have reregistered under a different name, she didn't.

There could be other celebrities on this board who are quite anonymous. For example, Matt LaBlanc could be posting here. And Flashlight could be trolling him. But, if Flashlight ever gave out any personal information on that poster, that would be wrong because that poster didn't come on here and let everyone know who he was. Garamet's personal information is 'public domain'. So anyone can repeat it whenever they want.
