I didn't know that was his real name, you can change the name in my title from Ted Wolf to just Ted.

Sorry dude, changed it to Sherlock Holmes. I think it's a bit silly given how much Ted has changed his name back and forth, but I'll err on the side of caution, if Elwood or Tamar see this and think it's ok they can change it back to Ted.

I should add that my personal feeling is that if you have had something as your username, people should be able to call you by that, if you choose to base your username off your real name then you have let the cat out of the bag.

Bailey's right. Once you've already used your name, it's become public knowledge.

I concur wholeheartedly with this assessment. Don't want your real name used? Don't volunteer it or use it as your user name.

As punishment, all threads in the Red Room must now contain "Ted" in the title.

So will you change it back to Ted Wolf?

It is not my current username.

I don't care if it is used in conversation within threads. People know it, no stopping that. However, I do not want it used in thread topics.

It's the username you gave yourself, the fact it was your real name is irrelevant.

It's the same as if Linda decided to try and ban people from still referring to her as Lurker, that would be laughed off. You told people they should refer to you as that so it isn't a privacy issue anymore.

Fine. All I asked was that it not be used in thread topic/titles, because it's my real name. It was a mistake to use it then, one I can not undo. Nor can I prevent people from continuing to refer to me as such. I would just like it if they didn't use my real, full, name within the topics... That's all I ask, humbly. However I accept that it ain't my call, and if they decide to allow it there ain't shit I can do about it. I still ask though.

I think he was asking if the thread titles could be changed back, not Ted/Sherlock's username.

The next person to refer to me as "Face", I would like to seen warned, their posts edited, and their permissions to the White Room revoked.

    I am FACEMAN.

I agree with Elwood, and Tex is right the thread title should be restored to what it was originally.

I really don't care. You can leave it if it makes him feel better about it. I may be an asshole sometimes, but I try not to be a jerk at the same time.

For that period I went as Lou the Beagle, I can count on one hand the number of times anyone addressed me as such--and that was with a name that wasn't mine.

Point is, once info is put out there online anyone can get it and use it. I thought you'd learn at least that much, being friends with Tamar of all people ;) (Not a diss or flame at her, BTW, just to be clear ;) ) IIRC, people still called Nick Nick when he was going around as Baron Von Walz or whatever that was and if Linda decided to change her username, there's probably be a few individuals who'd call her Linda.

That's been a problem with you in the past--giving away way too much personal information about yourself. Dayton is a example of when that can bit you in the ass. In the future, use a bit more discression about what info you share.

I remember when they were changing thread titles involving Nick's name because it would come up in a google search. A better rule would be to not allow people to use their real names as user names and if they do to force them to live with that decision.

Or force them to get a Deed Poll to change their real name to their user name.

    Yep.

Nowadays warnings against sharing private info on-line are second only to the kill you warnings on every pack of smokes.

WARNING: USING YOUR REAL NAME AS YOUR USER NAME MAY RESULT IN PEOPLE REFERRING TO YOU BY YOUR REAL NAME
