Couple more news items from today.

    1. Read the article in the Vancouver, WA paper, but the link is to the same story in the LA times:

    Bum Bot 2000!!

Although it seems to me that the bums could rise up and trash the old bum bot pretty easy, if they set their minds to it. Gotta love Atlanata. Actually, you don't, and I'm glad as hell I don't live there anymore.

    2. Long Island the 51st State?

Bigger than 19 other states and more populous than all but the country's 3 most populous cities, the Suffolk County Comptroller claims it's big enough to stand on its own, secede, and become the 51st state. Sounds like their biggest bitch is what they send to Albany in taxes versus what they get back- not surprising considering the makeup of the rest of the state, particularly NYC.

Marso sez: Fuck 'em in the ear. We don't need two more liberal senators and a gerrymandering of more democratic districts that statehood for Long Island would cause. As for the tax money issue, that's what happens when all the rich people run up to that end of the state. What do they think is gonna happen in a liberal mecca like NY? Besides, where the hell would they put the state capitol? Islip? Getthefuckouddaheah!

While we're at it, let's cast off Puerto Rico and take away their status as a US territory. That right there would probably solve some of the tax money issues that Long Islanders are worried about, when some million or so Puerto Ricans suddenly became illegal aliens. :tasvir:

    3. In a life piece about using your head to avoid a broken heart, we are shown the case o Juanita, who spent 14 years dating Mr. Wrong and using her inheritance to fund his failed business. This was years before she even married and then divorced him. She asks herself: "How stupid can one woman be?"

Marso sez: Is that a rhetorical question?

Then there's the case of Larry the attorney, who married one of his clients. Apparently Larry looked past her criminal background of check forgery in favor of her 'blond hair and long legs.' The writer claims Larry made his mistake because 'the heart can lead us into weird and unhealthy relationships.'

Marso sez: it wasn't Larry's heart that led him into that relationship. Methinks it was the junk about 18 inches to the south. :garamet:

Stranded on hotel duty in Portland/Vancouver. Jet going away, copilot going home. Tonite might be a whiskey night if I'm lucky. We'll see how the day progresses....

This is a good thread, I expect you to become the libertarian Paul Harvey. Shilling for strip clubs and whiskey brands of course. :techman:
